Bachmann Freightmaster DCC conversion

I purchased the Bachmann Freightmaster starter set about a year ago and it got me hooked on the hobby again (been away for it for years while living in a condo with no space). Now I've upgraded everything to Dcc (the EZ Track System, which is working perfectly for me) and have a Bachmann dcc engine as well. I'd like to convert the EMD GP40 locomotive that came with my original set to dcc. I'm new to this so I'd like to know if it's dcc ready and if so, which dcc converter(s) will fit this engine.

Hi Englishprof,

The GP40 included in starter sets is not "DCC Ready", as far as not having a plug-and-play installation method. However, the main PC board has six contacts labeled for track power, motor control, headlight and backup light, so you could install a decoder by soldering it to these points.
