headlight replacement 4-8-4 J

Trying to figure out how to get to the headlight on the J 4-8-4, latest version. I can see it in there sandwiched between the frame halves but i'd rather not have to crack open the frame just to get it out.  Or is that the only way to pull it out of there ?

I looked at the cut away view but it doesn't really help.

Any ideas out there ?

You should only have to loosen the side screws on the frame.
