Industrial 260 g gauge

Hello
I've just bought one of these at an auction and it appears dead! Installed 9 v battery . Applied 12 v dc to tender and loco wheels  .No sign of life.  Applied 12 v directly to motor and it worked. It has an electronic board in the tender. Tried switch in smoke box.Not sure how these are put together . Help ?

Is this a bachmann 2-6-0 locomotive or another manufacture. Since your motor is working the power pick ups could be shot and or the electrical board. If there are no pick ups you could have a RC control loco.

Any more info you can share with us then we would have a better idea on what you have, and trying to fix.

Are you Sure it is an Industrial 2-6-0 and not a 4-6-0??    Are the wheels on the locomotive plastic??  Check to see if there is a battery holder in the boiler, to get to the battery box you remove the back of the boiler.  Is there a frequency listed on a sticker on the locomotive bottom, such as 27 or 49 MHZ, Is the loco number end with a seven or a nine?? If so it is most likely a Bachmann Big Hauler radio controlled locomotive.  The 9 volt battery in the tender is for the chuf chuff sound, and does not power the motor. 

If there is a Bachman number on the box let us know what it is, or post a picture of what you have.

Thanks for your replies.
It is a Bachmann 260 industrial mogul .It has metal wheels .It is numbered 18  /   Yellow Pine Lumber co. It has 2 connections to the tender 2 wire  /  4 wire.  The tender has electrical pick ups to all wheels. Does the loco pick up?  Which colour wires go to the motor?
There are no stickers underneath.It did not come with a box.

Thanks for the follow up,  now that we know what you have, someone may be able to help.  UNfortunately I do not have an Industrial 2-6-0, but someone will and hopefully chime in with some ideas better than mine.

I don't know if the switch in the boiler front has a center off or not.  make sure the switch is firmly set to one side or the other, and try to run from both positions.  Make sure your track is very clean and make sure the power pack is connected and providing voltage

The wiring diagram does not show the color of the wires, and in the past colors of the wires has varied.  Since both the drivers and the front truck have power pickups try applying voltage to all the wheels individually and see if you get anything from even one set. If not clean the wheels because the power is transferred via the wipers on the wheels. Clean the wipers as well making sure they are making good contact with the wheels.   If that fails apply power directly to the wipers on the drivers, then try it directly on the wipers on the front truck.  If one or the other works check the connections on the one that does not work.  If neither works, then the wiring between the motor and the front switch or between the front switch and the wipers wipers may be bad.   If you have a multimeter you could check the continuity between each point till you find the problem.
