switch for smoke unit on 242 g scale

hi Bill i could not find a switch on mine 242 g scale penny #3 for the
smoke unit if i run the train with out the liquid will it burn the unit ?
i know there one in it an it old i bought it at a trains show.
i,m knew at this,thanks
