thunder valley n scale electr, w/snap-fit EZ trk, engine won't run

 ???we recently purchased a serial #060320 bachmann train from a friend. the lights come on the engine, but the engine won't run.  when it does, it only runs for 1 circle and then quit.  really want to enjoy this baby, but she just won't run.  anyone have any suggestions about getting her started on the track to stay?  thanks in advance.

Dear Pardon,
It sounds like your locomotive needs cleaning and lubrication, and the track probably needs cleanig as well. Your local hobby shop will have what you need.
