Can the Bachmann g scale tracks be used outside-- How do you avoid rust ?

Bachmann Track is not meant for outdoor use, no matter what you do it will rust badly.  Use Aristo craft Track or USA Trains track or other brand designed for outdoor use. There are many choices.  

I have heard of some who put the Bachmann track outdoors on a dry day the4n bring it in when they finish running.  If it gets wet they dry it and spray it with Wd-40 or a similar product.  

Type "Bachmann Track" in the search mode on the top menu bar and you will see all the discussions in this forum about it.  Limit the search to G or Large Scale.
