Expander Set No. 44893 Questions

I bought my husband the expander set 44893 for a gift. The Bachmann catalog shows 2 red cables, but it only came with one. The box only shows 1 on the outside contents diagram. And we can't find instructions on how to set it up. Not sure where to connect the open ended ring connectors.

1. Should there be 1 or 2 red cables?
2. Is there any manual available that shows how to connect the direction controllers for the turnouts?
