Another kitbash project using a Bachmann spectrum tender.

 Bachmann Spectrum tenders are great for kitbashers.   I just put together a kitbash project using a Spectrum tender behind another manufacture's engine.
I have been using Bachmann tenders behind all of my steam engines no matter who made them.  I changed a  Y3 2-8-8-2 Mallet  into something a liitle DM&IR M1 class mallet like,  which had a small tender.
Had to sacrifice the trailing truck for the drawbar mount.

Your post made me go check my inventory, as most all my conversions are finished, and what's not finished, I already have the Bachmann tenders to do so.
Thefavoritespot is down to only slope backs and mediums. Both of which I could re-stock. I'm down to one short, one medium, and two longs in my stash.
I just BIN 2 slopes and 2 medium $54.06 for all four and includes combined shipping.
Better get them soon as they are almost gone. Or pay an inflated price from somewhere else.
Bachmann made a ton of these, I don't think they will re-run any time in the near future, they may never, as they should be standard issue on everything Bachmann now makes as far as USRA types.
The basic frames can be used for anything, the bodies, not so much, the boards are removed.

Have you considered using these tender chassis for replacement caboose chassis to add track powered lighting? Or used under a box car to add hidden pick-up (cheater)?
Just a thought.  
So many bashing opportunities for these.
Just received my 2 slopes and 2 mediums from @thefavoritespot today.
Have two shorts coming from MBK, along with other goodies.
Have extra bodies and boards if you could use them, boards have jumper plugs.

 I have used the spectrum USRA short tender chassis with the old Atlas/Riv/con-cor 0-8-0 narrow bunker tender shell. I just sand down the shell to the height that I want and add a piece of electrical tape to the insides of the shell and it fit the Bachmann chassis great.

I came up with the tender I like for my mallet.

Older spectrum USRA medium tender with the coal bunker from the Atlas 0-8-0. I did a little sanding the the Bachmann coal load and glue the new bunker to the top.
The Atlas tender seem just too short for the large engine. I like the look of the spectrum tender with the high coal bunker.

I like the Vanderbilt tender that was standard with one of the larger locomotives and wish it would be continued as a stock item.
I have hired the replacement of tenders on some of my Bachmann steam locomotives; the first of which was the 4-6-0 that most models said did not have an approach tender as released.

Back when Bachmann released their line of ala carte Spectrum tenders, they did offer a number of different Vandy tenders (catalog numbers 89451, 89452, 89453, and 89454). I see that N Scale Supply still has a few listed as being in stock, so they can be had.

Thank you for the notice about the finds at MBK.
I placed an order for one of the C&O Vanderbilt tenders.
All of my locomotives and layout items are in storage,
so it will be awhile before I can see how it looks as a replacement
for the one I purchased that was sold with the 2-6-6-2.
