Older Bachmann Climax / 81180 Pardee & Curtin Lumber / adding sound

I recently purcahsed a used large scale 81180 Pardee & Curtin Lumber Climax locomotive.
I want to add a Phoenix p 11 sound systen with a 2 1/2" oval speaker. ( seems to have room for it )
I noticed that the newer models come with a fan unit for cooling, when loaded with a sound unit. Will this be an issue for me?

No, the fans are not needed.
