ez command & BLI issue

Hi all, new user here so go easy on me. I went the cheap route and got an Ez command. I have a little Bachmann dcc 4-6-0 that runs like a charm. I recently purchased a BLI e7 with dcc and sound on board but it works intermittently at best. Is it possible I need some sort of booster to provide enough power? I have a 4x8 labout- inner and outer track. No other engines running at the same time.

The BLI loco will work for a short distance, then cut out.  I am also unable to program to any number other than3.

You may want to try cleaning the track and cleaning the wheels of the locomotive. That may help.
