Hi all, I am looking for some step by step instructions on changing my 4-6-0 headlight. I searched the forum and did not see anything.  I also found out that my light in the tender is missing (unsure if it even comes with one). So if anyone knows where some instructions are please let me know. I am guessing the red is hot and the white is ground.  Who sells 1 tiny little LED light?  Also am I gonna need to solder a new light to the wires? Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

I haven't changed out my Big Hauler headlamp yet, but it's on my list of things to do.  Check out George Schreyer's website for a DIY treatise on the subject:

http://www.girr.org/girr/tips/tips1/big_hauler_tips.html#led

My Big Hauler's tender light did not come with a lamp in it either, and if you'll look close to the bottom of the web page listed above, George shows how to add an LED, plus the diode bridge that allows the lamp to light up only in reverse.

An yes, this will probably entail some soldering.

Good luck,
Jay

Hi Guys

If your Big Hauler has the plastic side rods, then the rear headlight is a dummy, and was never fitted with a bulb.
