This is more than likely limited to your Hobby Lobby or just a couple under that owner, because all the ones I have been to have either discontinued the section of only carry a few basic HO & N Bachmann sets.
HO sets carried by Hobby Lobbies that carry trains: Santa Fe Flyer, Chattanooga Steam Train Set, Pacific Flyer Steam Train Set, Rail King Train Set
N Scale sets: Thunder Valley Train Set & Yard Boss Train Set

Good judgement, bad judgement, or no judgement of any kind. ALL are permissible when grandchildren are involved, and particularly so when trains are also involved. Besides, you can get away with murder if you can say "But it's for the grandchildren for Pete's sake." Who's gonna argue with that? So I say, take the little fella to OK City or wherever and whenever you can. It's amazing just how fast you can accumulate all the things you need/want (our culture no longer makes a distinction) when you are getting them in the name of the grandkids. Go for it.

yeah that works for my son too. every time i go to a train show he comes home with another engine. i'll be stuck installing decoders for months.......

it also doesn't hurt to bring one home for the old lady every now and then.
