It would be best to leave the mainline tracks along and insert your gaps in the rails of the curved sections. That way, the entire "tail" of the wye will be your reversing section.

The correct railroader's term for this "delta" track arrangement is "wye."

HO / Designing HO scale Delta track...
Last post by Ralph S - July 07, 2024, 07:18:42 PM
I was viewing U-Tube videos and came across one of the train shows had a Delta type track that went toward a reversing loop.

I decided to build that delta track with my EZ track.  See image of the track below. I also want to modify that single track delta by replacing it with a double track crossover (trying to save space).   After creating the delta track, I came across an issue with A rail and B rail convergence.  That is, the A and B rail would cross one another.  I therefore inserted two isolated frogs (plastic) at the track split located at the crossover track section.   The top end convergence track is non-isolated (metal) frog.

This is where I ran into an issue.  Where to install the reversing loop at the crossover?

If I install the reversing loop on the crossover, it will affect the other track.   Question, should there be a gap in the crossing section?  In order that the other track not be affected.

Well, I'm asking this before I go cut a gap in a good crossover.   All the Delta track I'm aware of and instructions from the web only used a single track with reversing loop circuit for bottom of the delta.  I want to use the crossover in that bottom portion of the delta.     If you see or know of anything that I may have missed, please let me know.   I'm all ears at this point, before I mess up (cut a gap) a good crossover.

On the stream they said something about Stanley shipping at the end of the year idk how true this could be .

Tbh I don't think we are gonna see much new toolings for NMRA this year we still have the open coach , Duncan , and some narrow gauge rolling stock . We have yet to see any updates on . Not to mention sir Handel seems to be behind Stanley .

An idea I had was for Spencer's brake coach we have a composite coach But not a brake coach

I think a brake coach for Spencer is 16 years overdue .

Troublsome truck 7 is also over due I think it's gonna be the LNER 12 ton van.

Lei could also happen as he is a LNER 12 ton van .

And both would add more trucks with faces to the Bachmann range .

N / Re: N Scale 90° turns

(3) sections of 11.25' curve equals a 90-degree turn...

As the track radius increases...so do the number of sections it takes to make a 90...but they always make a 90-degree turn

My layout has every radius from 11.25" to 19" in a L-shape...

You just need to adjust the lengths using shorter or longer sections until the curves match

Beginner's Hint:  Lay out the curves first...then add straight sections to connect to them

Hold that thought group.  It seems that the Loksound project I've loaded, a Doodlebug, requires F4 to be on before any lights come on, then F0 for headlights and F6 for marker/iternal lights.

Woo hoo!

On30 / Marker/internal lights don't w...

Sorry if this has already been covered on the forum (if it has, maybe someone can post a link for me?).

I have a couple of Rail Buses on my layout that I'd like to add sound to.  I've bought 2 Loksound V5 decoders for this purpose and fitted one.  But I've found that the marker lights and internal lights don't come on.

Reading through this forum, it seems that the 8 pin plug of the standard Bachmann decoder, with the use of a couple of small resistors built into the plug, manages this requirement and turns on the marker lights and internal lights with the headlights, i.e. F0.

The suggestion has been been to swap the 8 pin plugs but that requires some very fiddly soldering (been there and not always successfully!).

Looking at the main board of the Rail Bus, there are a number of small solder pads right next to the leds.  I wonder if these can be used to connect the green or purple wires of the Loksound decoder so that AUX1 or AUX2 can be used to turn of the marker/internal lights.

Does anyone know?  Can anyone shed any light (pun intended) on this?

Cheers
David

I think Bachmann would be working on Thomas Cabooses in HO/OO Scale and N Scale at some point in the future. I didn't get a chance to get these Thomas Cabooses from Shapeways for last time. Shapeways Website isn't working right now! Just chill and calm down, okay.

I will be interested to get Limited Release Thomas Rolling Stock soon at some point in the future. I do really like Original Steam Team sometimes too. I'm not planning to get HO Nia and Rebecca from Bachmann Trains either! It gets worse and worse in the future. I'm planning to get Knapford Express Coaches for Limited Release soon! I will get Limited Release Thomas Rolling Stock in HO/OO Scale someday.
