HO / #6 Remote Crossover Turnout

Before I place this crossover in line on the layout...I need some advice.  I have no idea if this is DCC friendly as it does not reference that on the packaging.  Another concern I have is the use of insulated frogs....this one appears to be all metal and states that the frogs are electrically wired.  Any help with this would be very appreciated.  Thank You

HO / Re: EZ Track Turnout causing problems

There is one other way I found to help spot the trouble...I have used a very inexpensive camcorder and played it back in slow-mo.  Not only did it help locate the derailment problems I had...but made it a lot easier to repair. Placing it at or near the turnout and running the loco at regular speed really helped

HO / Re: Bachmann 16301 Track Cleaning Tank Car

just an update...this Tank Car was delivered this morning and it did just what it says.  Jerry you were correct all the way with your knowledge and it is appreciated.  I also picked up on a pkg of 2 pads that were on sale.  The tracks I use are NS Code 100 and about 8 months old...but hardly ever used.....but now the fun begins as there are no more dead spots on the tracks...spent hours trying to understand the DCC wiring system but it was dirty tracks that caused the problem.

Once again...to all a big thank you

No I just run the dry car around by itself. Every other week I soak the pad in track cleaner then run it around followed by the dry pad car. These pads are washable just throw them in the dishwasher.

Jerry

hahaha....my better half may throw me in the dishwasher if she knew track cleaner was on the pad...

Are there any chemicals associated with this drycleaning?

Has anyone used this type of cleaning car with the Dry Cleaning method before?

I am just guessing...your trying to duplicate it for decals?  if so, looking on the Tropicana home page and selecting "view source"....this is what is says.

Hope this helps

There is no need to chop up grind anything as I received a email from Soundtraxx with options...they advised me to use any speaker that conforms to an 8 ohm rating.....found 3 that will do the trick.  the smaller 0.56 mm fits the SD40-2 and it fits perfect.

Thanks for your instructions on how to research.. ::)..I have been reading any and all ways to figure this out including contacting Soundtraxx.  Yes I know using a smaller speaker will work but my main concern is quality and performance.  I did not want to compromise either one for the sake of a smaller speaker.  If you have done these before....my compliments to you..this is the first time I had to rework this...but I will get it up and running in a few days.  Many thanks pal

Thanks for the suggestion

The light bar for these units was not an issue as I installed SoundTraxx - Tsunami TSU-AT1000 Digital Sound Decoder - EMD 645...they recomend that I use a 1" dia speaker which if I placed it in the cab..I would need to knock out the windows on both sides...yikes....now I am back to where I started...

Hello Dave

These screws will be visible from the bottom once you carefully remove the fuel tank.  This tank is clipped on so be very careful when removing it.  Once off you should see the screws in which to remove the shell.  I have this on my SD40 and I believe the SD40-2 is the same.
