Large / shay -- new die cast truck install
May 04, 2014, 08:16:54 PM
Hi folks,  I'm getting ready to install my new die cast trucks and have a question.             Prior to hooking up the new truck wiring, is there any reason that I can't determine correct phasing of both the wires to the trucks and also the wires going into the locomotive by applying track transformer power to the wires directly where I will be making the solder joints?

Thanks

Large / Pardee-Curtin wheel screws
June 25, 2013, 01:07:21 PM
HI
I have a shay  36 ton g-scale two truck.  It has less than 5 hours total run time.  I recieved it as a gift as a (never been run) unit.  I lubricated it per instructions and used it for a small amount pulling either no or light loads.

It recently began running intermittently. I thought it was a track cleaning problem until It stopped altogether.

Inspection showed that all 4 right hand drive wheels were loose and wobbly, with the power pick-ups missing.
The screws shown in the owners manual are gone. I don't know if they were ever in there, not knowing how long they are and if there is enough room for them to fall out without hittting the truck frame.

Does anyone out there know of any similar problems?  Most probably I's time to replace the trucks with the
new metal ones, but I'm not sure I want to put that much money into this brand of equipment, with the quality being iffy.  Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks

Does anyone know how long the improved trucks for the 36 ton 2 truck shays will be available?  Or should I get them now while the gettin is good?

Thanks

Large / shay sound systems

Hi.   This is my 1st bachmann, a # 81196 shay (new in box) that Santa brought me.  It looks as though it is prewired for a sound system.
My question is  "what systems are compatable with this unit and will they hook up to the pigtails that are under the tender? "  Also what is a reasonable amount of time that I can expect from the plastic frame trucks before I have to change to the newer ones?

I only use track power and have no plans to change to anything  else.

Thanks
