:) Well I just wanted to confirm that I did receive the front pilot with the Annie chassis,  just as you all  acknowledged. Thank you all for your responses and help.

Thanks for the offer Bob. I am away on travel and my chassis arrived while I am away. I will see if it came with the pilot when I get home on Friday. I was just going by what the discription on the website said. Hopefully there will be one in the box. I was hoping the Bac-man would respond.
Thanks for all your responses.

Joe, even though they show it in the picture, the item discription says "using old pilot". This leads me to believe you get the chassis but have to re use the original pilot.

Large / Annie 4-6-0 new gen pilot
July 08, 2018, 08:56:42 PM
I just lost the original pilot on my 4-6-0. The front wheel came off causing the pilot to short out and burnt the wires running from the pilot to the motor. I was able to order a new chassis but the pilots are listed as sold out. I was wondering if anyone new when they might be available again. Winter comes fast and like to run some more before my season is done.
Thanks

If you noticed on the bottom of the tender there are two brown reed switches which get triggered by the magnet on the track. I think I saw them in line with one another, (this is why the bell turns on then the whistle blows one after the other). These get triggered by the magnet, first one passes over the magnet and triggers the bell, second one passes over the same magnet and triggers the whistle. If you moved the first reed switch to the right side of the tender and the second reed switch to the left side of the tender then used smaller magnets with one near the inside of the right rail and the other near the inside of the left rail you could have independent triggering of the bell and whistle and at different locations. Hope I explained this OK. Check out the manual for reed switch placement.

It looks like a Phoenix Big Sound 96/97 board check out their site with a picture of your board and you should be able to get info from them.

I think the mistake you are making (and I wish I were wrong) is you seem to think Bachmann cares about us large scale folks. It seems like when ever someone comes on this forum to make a suggestion for large scale the answer is always no or no answer at all. Sorry for my negativity. :-\

Large / Re: Large Scale Bachmann Forney decoder

Hi Kevin, all switches are in the right position for this setup. The head light does light dimly at stop and brightens in forward but still not that intense for a head light. The ash pan and fire box do not light at all. Tony's trains installed the Q2-FX Steam file #3101-802 which may not be Bachmann specific. Greg suggested using a Bachmann specific file so tonight I will install the Bachmann Forney #3107-2 file and see if that gets things working.
Thanks

Well I got my Bachmann QSI Titan decoder for my Forney and installed it last night (plug & play). Motor control works fine and the bell and whistle work too (not as loud as my other QSI Magnum). There is no CHUFF at all and no fire box or ash pan flicker. Forward head light is rather dim. Before when it ran on DC with no decoder the ash pan and fire box flicker work well and the head light was brighter. So much for plug and play. Guess tonight I start the trouble shooting and trying to contact QSI for support.

Hi Bob, I don't know the direct answer to the question but if it doesn't stay in place on its own you could glue small magnets in place on the chassis and small metal brackets on the cover and let the magnets hold the cover in place and then come removal time a little pull will disengage the magnets hold.
Good luck.

Large / Large Scale Bachmann Forney decoder
March 18, 2016, 10:38:09 PM
Hi all, I was wondering if any one has installed a QSI Titan Bachmann plug and play decoder in the outside frame 2-4-4 Forney. A month ago I talked with Josh at the QSI booth at the Amherst show and he mentioned I would need a specific model of the Bachmann decoder for it to work with the optical chuff sensor in the Forney. Just interested to see if anyone has had success / issues with this install.

Thanks

Large / Re: Plug'n'play battery hookup
January 30, 2016, 01:21:00 AM
Bill, I have the Bachmann Forney locomotive and I believe it has a similar plug and play board as the Climax. In the operators manual it states that the 18 volt input is for battery locomotive operation (RC). The 6 volt battery terminal (INPUT BATT 2) is Bachmann quote "If desired, your sound system's + - inputs can also be use to directly power the locomotives chuff circuits using the INPUT BATT 2 screw terminals at the right rear of the board . These terminals have a voltage input range from 5 to 14 volts DC."

Hope this helps.

Brian, glad to see you were able to find the problem and fix it yourself. You are now that much more experienced the next time you have an issue.  :)
