Yes I did. Smoke & mirrors?

K, I agree with your statement…. Except, I also model the EBT.

However, due to lack of commercial equipment (especially engines) the fictitious BLACKLOG TIMBER COMPANY actually became a more successful enterprise on my layout.

This situation is changing… my EBT now has 2 & 3 bay hoppers and a couple of steel boxes on the way.

Let’s hope Bachmann does one of the EBT mikes.

Nice cars. Also, nice trackwork. What code rail is that?

Vince

Thanks, it's code 215 Llagas Creek rail.

Take a look at this article on Large Scale Central:

and this one:

A number of folks, including myself, are building F scale EBT steel boxes.

Figuring out how to take it apart was the toughest part… boy, there are some small screws that are well hidden.

Calculating where to cut, so that you end up with the 4-way intersection of the slopes for the new bay is the secret.

I will probably do couple more and document the procedure.

Large / F scale 3-bay hoppers

EBT 3-bay hoppers. I just had to do it, especially when I figured out that one donor car will provide the additional parts needed to transform two Bachmann F scale 2-bay hoppers into 3-bays. While researching the EBT, I noticed that the center bays on various prototype cars did indeed face opposite directions from the brake end. Bingo, now I could use both ends of the donor car.
