HO / Re: DCC not on board!!!

Ok, now I am having a problem with the locomotive after installing a digitrax dh123 decoder. It ran fine without the decoder, and when I first put the decoder in it ran well, however after turning it off and letting it sit overnight it starting acting up. The loco will not operate at low speeds, and is very glitchy at higher speeds at times the loco will not start unless I tap on it. I took the decoder out and it ran fine again. So I tried to reinstall the decoder, and the same thing happened. It ran fine at first, then it sat over night, and did the same thing. The motor has the caps and a couple resistors soldered in line with the original wiring. I spliced my wires in line so I would not have to disassemble the loco entirely. The instruction for the decoder do not mention anything about caps on the motor. Should I remove them?

I have a Bachmann paper catalog that has it on the same page as DCC on board locos also. It is the 2010 catalog.

I went to the internettrains.com website and it is not advertised as having DCC, while on the ehobbies.com website it is shown as DCC but it is an obvious mistake, you could tell by the pricing that it would not have DCC.

That's funny, because if you browse by catagory, and not do a search it is there plane as day.

They are not the only ones selling it as having dcc on board. I have been in touch with them, and I am waiting to hear back from them.

Well, it falls inline with the DCC gp30s in Bachmann's catalog and is advertised as DCC on board at every online vendor I have seen it on. They do not show this scheme as just a DC model that I have seen. Internettrains.com also has it advertised with decoder.

HO / DCC not on board!!!
May 19, 2011, 05:55:48 PM
I just bought the 62301 locomotive, which is advertised as DCC on board. I ordered from Ehobbies.com. When it arrived I noticed that the unit was not DCC. I check by applying it to my track, and sure enough, no DCC. What's up with that? I have been in contact with Ehobbies and I am waiting to hear from them. I don't want to have to deal with shipping it back, but I want what I thought I was going to be getting. Please Help.

HO / Re: Plasticville built-up Dairy Barn in HO Scale?

I agree, I just took a closer look at this barn today, and it does appear to be a larger scale. The split door off to the side would be way too big for any livetock to be hanging its head out of if the livestock were ho scale.

Will I have to replace the whole decoder or is there a add on to the existing decoder?

I did not purchase the unit with sound. Which sound decoder should I use for it. I am using the Bachmann ez command dcc controller.

Sorry for a newb question. I just picked up a 2-10-2 spectrum recently.  It came with a small bag of black powder, Is this for smoke? I looked through all the paperwork and did not see anywhere where it says it does smoke. Also my unit does not do 18" curves well at all. I can do a mix of 18 and 22 and it will do ok but a successive 18 to 18 it derails.

I am setting up a layout on two 4x8 sheets with a 2x3 connector between them. It is basically two ovals with two tracks connecting them. Everything is running fine, but I want to know if a reverse loop can be added to one of the ovals using one of the sides of the oval. If so, where do I isolate the loop and connect the reverse module. I am looking to use two remote switches to loop back around to the same side within the oval. Also, I just received my dcc controller and the loco that came with my Red rock express seems to be making a sound which sounds like a diesel hum to me. Is this possible?
