My Bachmann Diesel Horn Oil Storage Tank Model works very well, but has a  "feed back noise" like a crackling sound, coming through like a morse code dash, which is annoying. It is hooked up to the 15volt AC terminal as directions show, but to me it seems like it is getting too much current for the microphone ?. Any clues how to stop this annoying sound ?. Thanks

I have bought a Bachmann Model 13002 Silver Series 85ft.Full Dome passenger car of the AT&SF..
Could the members assist with what years this car would have been in service with the Santa Fe Railway please?.

My Bachmann Shell Fuel Tank and Diesel Horn Model3 46208 has been working well for many years. The kids love it.
However shifting it a little, during painting alongside , one wire came adrift from the circuit board, and when trying to re-solder it ,two more came off. A short circuit resulted when trying to reconnect.   I am not a new age electrical wizard  at 85 years, but would like to get a circuit diagram to take to my electrician fellow modeller to do the repairs. Any help appreciated.

HO / Re: My new Bachmann HO 2-6-0 loco derailing
April 07, 2015, 10:10:40 PM
All good advice, and I too have had similar troubles with various Pony Truck Locos. However if you still have a pony truck derailment which these hints have not fixed, and if it is not just the turnouts, get your track gauge out and see if any parts of  your track are tight, that is slightly out of gauge. I found this after I blamed a turnout for my 2.8.0 derailing ,where it was a small section of curved  track  before the turnout that was out of gauge. A bit of filing  both rails and checking with the gauge, solved that problem. It's very pleasant when these locos glide through the turnouts (points). Years ago I actually sold a nice 2-6-0  that I could  not weigh down ,that simply would not run through curved turnouts. My layout is only 10x5ft.with tight curves,18inch,better or worse, with several curved turnouts ,and many switching spurs(sidings),and happily no derailments now. At 84 years, I too am still learning and experimenting. Bachmann Forum has taught me a lot.
Good modelling.

Following  the Yardmastr's advice to check if the the bulb was burnt out etc..
I did not know how to remove the body, so I took out the DCC Decoder Plug and replaced the original DC Plug, and tested the 2-8-0, on DC which  showed the headlight working in forward.
I also tested the 2-8-0 on DCC with  my new Bachmann DCC/Sound 2-6-0 , to check direction on the same track ,both locos moving forward correctly, but no headlight in the  2-8-0 after pressing Button # 0  . This is  the first Bachmann Decoder I have fitted to a Bachmann Locomotive, and the headlight inoperative. In short, not as described in the product Easy Start Up Guide specifications. Since 2003 I have fitted a number of Dual Mode Silent  Decoders of brands not mentioned to Bachmann Models without a fault.  I thought this conversion of Bachmann to Bachmann equipment would be the best. Did I buy the wrong Bachmann type or is this one faulty ?.  Appreciate advice ,
Cheers  Owen

I have fitted Bachmann # 44926  8 Pin Plug Silent Dual Mode Decoder to my Spectrum  2-8-0 and the loco works correctly on both DCC and DC.My EasyDCC System tells me it is on 28 Speed Steps, and is running on forward direction, and has 2 Functions.
However I cannot get the headlight to operate.
The Decoder istructions stated that if the 8 pin plug was in the wrong way the headlight would not  work. I reversed the 8 Pin Plug and it than ran backwards on the track and still no headlight.
I then went back to the original plug setting, and the detaills above were verified with the loco moving in both directions correctly, but the headlight still off.
What advice can the Forum offer here please ?

My Bachmann S4 Diesel Switcher is stopping and starting frequently on track power. I have tried to clean the pick ups with a fine brush and  methylated spirit ,but this only lasts  for a short  time, and then it stops. Tracks are cleaned frequently. I have never taken the body off,and would like the advice of our forum before i do anything further. I  have had high praise  for this  little switcher,as it has always performed well, working on my 10x5 Small Town US Layout.   Owen

Roger, I did the googling and found an ebay  US Dealer with Cal Scale brass  loco ladders. Much longer than the Connies' but will cut them to fit. Cheers  Owen
