I see, thank you. Seeing that theres not much on the market for steam locomotives that have a smoke feature, I figure it be a neat little cheap buy! Maybe once I get it, I'll be able to somehow upgrade the smoke machine..See how it goes though!

To go way back I first started with horn-hook couplers..Yikes! hehe. I use Kadee #5, EZ-Mate, EZ Mate Mark II's and some McHenry. I find that the plastic shanks do wear out after time. The springs are better to use. I plan to swtich over everything to Kadee someday. Kadee sells a variety of different styles, draft boxes etc. Check out their website for further information. Most ready to run rolling stock and locomotives come with the McHenry and Ez-Mate couplers these days. You should try different ones to see how your rolling stock reacts to them and how appealing they are too.

General Discussion / Steam Era
July 31, 2009, 02:37:03 PM
Board,

First off I hope I'm posting this in the right place?

Well I recently started to get into the Steam Era. I recently purchased some HO scale locomotives from International Hobby Corp. and Spectrum. I was wondering if there are any good online resources that explain the different types of steam locomotives, history etc. I'm looking for something that might have product reviews. Also, looking for pictures of different angles and close ups on the steamers for modeling purposes. I have surfed through some of the messages on these boards and found some helpful things but looking further. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you,

Thanks to all for their input. A little added detail here and there won't hurt. I do have a few Bachmann/Spectrum engines and they do run very well. Little grease and oil now and then keeps them in good running condition :)

HO / Baldwin RF-16's?

Good afternoon all, I'm looking into getting a pair of the Delaware and Hudson's Sharks and I was just curious as to how they are. Are they good running and how well are the details on them? They seem like nice models and would fit in nicely with my D&H collection! I don't know of any other manufactures that produce them other than I think it was Model Power? years ago! Thank you,
