I have several DCC turnouts and they are easy to program.    Trouble is my layout is at my place in the country and can't recall exactly from memory how to program them

There are no wires that run from the switch to a transformer all power and control is thru the rails.    I have a Bachmann ez command and address 9 is used for the switches.   You can program up to 9 switches on separate addresses or if you got more you can double up some on the same address.   Programming the switch to a address is done by pressing in on a small tab located on the switch based on the instructions that come with each switch.    It is not hard to do at all.    Wish I could give you more details but like I said, my switch instruction manual is at the lake.

Am sure someone else will be able to walk you thru with more detail.

I have removed the rail joiners on several pieces of Bachman ez track with the grey roadbed with no problem     Maybe I have been lucky   I use a regular pair of piers and pull the joiner off.    Generally I do this to a short piece of straight track in case I would damage one but have had no problems.

Joe I removed the backs of the control boxes this past week and was amazed at the wiring in them.............a regular little board with all kinds of circuits on it.     I couldn't see any signs of a burn anywhere and the clips on the end of the unit that receive the power look good.

I spliced the switches together near the switch or I guess what you refer to as the solenoid.   The length of wire is about 4 feet from the control box to the 2 switches...........I left about 6 in. of the fine wire installed on the control box and on each switch and the extra length is a 22 gauge wire.

I operated the switches about 8 or 9 times this past week and so far they are working great together.


If things change and they g o out again, will check out the atlas unit.

THanks Joe for the tip   next time i am at the lake where my bench is at will see how the switches are throwing.........if i get another failure will try the atlas unit

going to take the back off of the switch control unit that came with the bachmann switch to see if I canget a idea of what the problem may be.   Not for sure what is in one of those critters besides the wires.

If there are green wires with the turnouts that are attached to the switches it sounds like you have electric turnouts that need to be connected to a different ho transformer.   The EZ command controller doesn't have a connection to hook up for accessories like switches and such.    I use a older HO Transformer and connect the switches to it.

The DCC Controlled switches do nothave any wires attached to them and control is thru the track like the engines are.

Howdy I hooked up 2 Bachmann no. 5 switches on the same control unit as I wanted them to work in conjunction with each other.

They worked fine for about 7 or 8 throws and then it seems they wouldn't work.......either in conjunction or hooking up one at a time.    I could hear a clicking noise in the one switch but that was all.    I then hooked them up to another switch control and they seem to be working fine.   I have tried them well over a dozen times and so far so good.

Anyone got any idea as to what happened.    Are the controls not able to handle throwing more than 1 switch..........perhaps it was to much for the control unit.

Anyone else use just 1 control unit to operate multiple switches.

I have been well satisfied with Discount Trains on line for a lot of stuff.

on multiple occasions I have ordered 22 in radius ez track with the grey road bed.   I must have well over 50 pieces...........there are no holes like on the 18.   On the underside of the track you can see where there are stems that comedown from the track where the holes are..........there are no stems on the 22 in. pieces I have.   Yes I have some tracks where the hole is present on 18 as well as the 26 and 28 in radius but they are not drilled all the way thru.

I have all Bachmann track and swtiches and so far quite satisfied with them.   I do have a couple of issues though..........why arn't there mounting holes in the 22 in. radius curves...........there are mounting holes in all the other curve sizes but the 22 in ones.

Also, on the end of track units, there is a mounting hole trouble is, its right under the bumper and I can see no way to be able to insert a nail or screw into it from above.    Why didn't they drill the hole in the last tie.......would have been nice.

Another odditiy I have notices about my EZ DCC Command station is that when I turn the power off completely to the unit and then turn it back on, the No. 2 switch address activates and throws the switch..........why that is I can't understand or figure out how to resolve it...........I just live with it.   The other switch addresses are not effected, but only the No. 2 address for some reason.   


Along this same line is the No. 1 DCC switch address.........every once in a while it refuses towork...........so I have the turn the unit off and then turn it back on and it resets and everything seems to be backto normal.


Was wondering if anyone else has noticed any unusual quirks with their system

May try to remove that cab, and take a look.   Doesn't sound to difficult and should be able to locate the screws needed.

I do have a few hobby shops near me, one for sure does repair on Marklin Engines and equipment that I have used in the past for my Marklin stuff.   Am gong by there today to pick up a turntable in for repair and will ask them if they would be willing to take a look at it or perhaps send it to their repair man to look at.

Thaks for the suggestions trouble is I am not very mechanically inclined and to be honest with you am a bit nergvous about opening up the engine.   But may get brave and try it and check the connections.   Usually when I start tinkering I end up with a bigger problem than I started with.

The engine is a diesel so there is no tender attached.    Will also try cleaning the wheels as suggested.
