How about a K-28 variation for White Pass & Yukon next?

Udo,

Thank you for the reply back.  Yes, I will plan on a complete disassembly, as I did for my Bachmann Big Hauler Anniversary 4-6-0, for DDC installation.

Udo,

I had a major disassemby getting to the motor wiring for installing a Lenz decoder 4024 in my Bachmann 4-6-0 Anniversary and am hoping to avoid repeating this difficulty with my 2-6-0 Industrial/Mining mogul.  It was relatively easy installing a Soundtraxx sound board once the decoder was installed.

How difficult was the disassemply to remove all the electronicsf for your 2-6-0 Indie?  Did you reach the PCB in the boiler without removing the motor box and side rods for wheels for accessing the wiring to the motor?

Did you take any pictures that you would share with me here?

Bryan

Hello all,
that engine is not DCC ready. I removed all installed electronics including the sound unit on mine.
I also removed the smoke unit and replaced it by an LGB one. So I had space in the boiler to add some 300gr. weight.
I also made some new connections from the tender to the engine (power pick up, lights, smoke, motor) and installed an ESU Loksound XL in the tender.
Now the machine runs very well and sounds also very good.

I need DCC Wiring Connections for Bachmann Big Hauler 1:20.3 Large Scale Baldwin Industrial 2-6-0 Mogul Item no. 81699 painted, unlettered.  I received a DC wiring connection, but it is difficult to follow for converting it to DCC without any wire diagram.

I have recently (September 2010) completed my first garden railway after breaking down my indoor large scale layout several years ago.  It is an over and under single circle inside another larger circle with LGB sectional track on Railbed Systems metal roadbed all elevated in a space approximately 27' by 23' yard area.  I am almost finished with installing rail clamps on all track connections.  I have reasonable grades to run my two DCC engines and more railbed supports on order to brace an elevated siding.  It has 5' diameter curves, so I am limited to my large scale Bachmann Porters steam (round boiler now, square on order) and large scale Bachmann GE 45 ton diesel until I install DCC in my other smaller engines, including a large scale Bachmann Mining/Industrial Mogul 2-6-0 (help needed here). I also have a Bachmann Anniversary 4-6-0 that I am troubleshooting to get back running with DCC and sound added.

I also helped construct the garden railway at Longwood Gardens back in August, where I run my large scale Bachmann Spectrum Consolidation 2-8-0 and Bachmann Spectrum Mogul.

I missed seeing your reply until now, nine months later.  I will buy this now if still available.

Please let me know your cost including shipping and I will either make payment using PayPall given your e-mail address account there or mail a check.

I sent you an e-mail using the Bachmann system with my contact information.

I expected someone (over 120 hits here) to ask me where I found Bachmann 89395 WP&Y 2004 P-Coach "Lake Tagish" listed for sale.  It was Peachcreek Shops in MD, which I learned today did not have it in stock, nor did it ever have it, by making a call there.

This is exactly the problem  with Internet sales that I had with this search in the past- namely, listing items without stock information and taking orders without any notifications back.

Perhaps, someone reading this messagel has a 89395 for sale?

I just ordered it from a web site that I do not recall seeing before in my searches here.

The stock looks recently updated there, so maybe I will get lucky and it will arrive for Christmas!

I have been searching for approximately one year trying to find:

89395   WP&Y   248   2004   P-Coach   White Pass & Yukon   "Lake Tagish"   P      Track Power Lights   $77.00    Metal Railings

Has anyone found a retailer with one or more of these Jackson Sharp coaches to purchase?

Hey Beechy, great to read that the 3 truck shay will handle my curves and switches, which are part of an indoor layout (like yours) that I plan on moving outdoors.  Next a trip to Nicholas Smith Trains to see it again (last at York train show) and then...

I have R2 radius (5 ft diameter), so perhaps the three truck shay will work here.  Does the manual or box give any indication of the minumun radius/or diameter track size?

I am also concerned about shorting at the frogs in the smallest of LGB turnouts in 12000 series.  The frog design of these turnouts does not always ensure the wheel crosses the gap in the rail without "dropping" into the gap.  When the wheels may go the wrong way, it shorts before it guides the wheels in the correct direction with a check-rail installed inside the rail opposite the frog.

I would be grateful for any experience here with either or both R2 radius (5 ft diameter) and LGB turnouts in 12000 series.

I had a Bachmann Climax (sold) that had major shorting problems with its trucks in my layout at the LGB 12000 series turnouts entering and exiting two reversing loops with 5 feet diameter track (R2 LGB 15000), when I had analog power (LGB Jumbo).  I have since converted my layout to DCC.

What is the minumum track diameter for the Bachmann Large Scale 55 Ton 3 truck Shay and how does it handle the smallest of LBG turnouts?
