Thanks for that I too thought that a smaller chip would do the job which reduces the price from around £50 to £38 I'm not a fan of sound so it'll be easier to fit something like the MX632decoder

Has anyone experience in fitting a chip to the old 1997 Porter (mine is an excellent runner )   and if so which chip to use?i The chip makers appear to ignore both Porter models

Do you realise that the new on3 Heisler is listed in the large scale area for spares, intruction sheets etc Is this because it's coming in G (Please,please, please) or is it still an uncorrected mistake? It is about time Large scale got a new engine that's around long enough for us to save &buy it,too!

 the T boiler Shay would be most welcome in g scale for us log line guys and keep it low cost too! No need for smoke ( It only burns out!) and very little purpose in the firebox glow & cab light either. The cheaper it is the more likely people will add one to their system. Another log truck would be ideal when you get round to it before we all fall off our perchesl.

Isn't it about time we g scale modellers got something really new not re-issued, re- vamped etc and something a little more affordable. A decent NG shunter ( switcher) for example or a diesel switcher for sure  on3 seem to get all the joy these days are we being written off?? With the demise of Aristocraft track in the range things do seem to be going down the pan and no reduction in prices despite the fall in the cost of oil (for the plastic)

Thanks again we wagons like the one you describe we call them translator wagons on british rail used mainly for hauling underground stock. I made one to haul a few Aristocraft cars but changed the couplers in the end

Well I venturer to my attic to seek out the box - there is no mention in the instructions nor had I worked out from your messages that the coupling heads come off and are interchangable!!!I had been working on  the instructions which give two systems  body or bogie mounted nothing else and with my eyesight I'd missed the screw flush fitted behind the head. Now I 've changed the heads I have 100% success - thanks everyone

Thanks for the advice - the black couplings are fitted to the cranked shaft but alas the couplers mate only with the top half or third of the car couplers depending with the ride height of the car or coach. That is the best I can get which isn't very good as any ground variation still causes a runaway train!

I looked at the catalogue, as suggested, and wondered if it is possible to reverse the dropped shank coupling mounting bar and put the coupler on top thus lowering the hookand maintaining the flexibility to negotiate the cursed 5ft curve I have to endure on one part of the line.

I have the dropped shank couplers fitted and the instruction sheet shows only a body mounted version which fails on 2 counts 1) too rigid for my min 5foot curves & 2) too high,the original problem made worse. Should there be another version not in a UK box? or do I have another choice in fitting the black coupling to the dropped shank bar? Many thanks

Thanks but looking at the body fixing it seems to  the coupler even higher or am I looking at the wrong piece? My fleet of five trains are all Bachmann LSand only the Forney loses it's trains - they slip out underneath of it's coupler pocket.

thanks for the reply but someone at Bachmann must have finally found the part for it arrived at my repairers house saturday!! now all I need is the balloon stack for the 4-4-0 hopefully they'll have it back in stock soon n

Hi why doesn't Bachmann list any Climax spares?? I have a Climax that's been out of action through a broken part for 2years and it just can't be purchased!! Also, the Ballon stack for the 4-4-0 American has been out of stock for ages when can we expect a parts service from the Company that's worthy of the name. It's even more frustrating this side of the pond as 90% of bachmann dealers don't even do G scale and so we have to e-mail or wait long periods for shipping (Not to mention the extra import duty imposed on the tinest part!)
