Hey,
1:35 will often be used for military models. Narrow gauge railroads mostly represent 2 feet trench, later also zivil lines with old military and other material.
For Standard gauge lines will be used 1:32 material on 45mm track.

Hey,
but in which scale? The american 0-scale is 1:48, in Europe and Germany 1:45. Henke Modellbau make engines and rolling stock of differnt german railways in 1:45.
I also would like a Garrett, but in an other scale than 1:48 would be a further line of Bachmann narrow gauge.
Best wishes from Germany

On30 / Re: On30 4-4-0 into a 8-18c?

Hey,
a perfect 4-4-0 for 0n30 is shown in the gazette Mar/Apr 2013. It's the "Surry, Sussex & Southampton" No. 1. The engine is only a little bit longer than the Bachmann 4-4-0 but has bigger wheels and a bigger superstructure. A very wonderful engine.

Hey,
in an other thread I votet for the short Sierra overtons just like the Delton/Aristo Classic, but in 20,3. These cars would be fit to all layouts.

Hey,
I would like to see overtons, just like the Sierra types Aristo made, but in 20,3. These cars were wonderful short and it's possible to run more than two-car-trains on smaller layouts.

On30 / old time engines
August 22, 2012, 06:56:53 AM
Hey Mr. Bachmann,
would it be possible to produce engines just like the "Rito Alto" and/or the "Cochetope"?? These are my favorites in 20.3 and they would it be in 0n30 also.
Best wishes from good old Germany

Hey norman,
the accucraft coaches will fit to the 4-4-0. Look at the models of David Fletcher (Bronson Tate). These models are 1:20,3, period 1870/1880. Wide is ~11", length ~24". The coaches where oversized to the engines.
The first D.&R.G. where a little narrow because they had seats 2/1 not 2/2. I think measures differs between the RR-companies, also the length.
A bigger problem for me are the freight cars. The oldtimers where smaller than the modern once. Are the 20' models of Bachmann correct types. The look very small just like 2 feet stuff. I am looking for plans for modelling some oldtime freight cars but it is very dificult to find some. I am from Germany and here you can't get so much "paperwork" of US narrow gauge.

Hey tac,
Yes, Athaern made  scale parts in the past. Ich only know the trucks: archbar, Bettendorf and Andrews. My dealer here in Germany told me, that they will no more produced. I got the last of his stock.  Don't know wether they made rolling stock.
The widness of Bachmann rolling stock is between 2' and 3'. I build these two gauges in large scale, so I know the difference.
Years ago someone regauged a Mogul loco from 0n30 to 0 scale. It was a nice little thing. I think the Bachmann coach is smaller than Williams or Lionel.  Regauging the rolling stock of Bachmann will be a little bit dificult but an interesting idea for opening next scratchbuilding season...
Best wishes

Hey norman,
I tested it with an Athaern bogie - they are to broad. Bachmann build his stuff a little bit smaller than 0n3 I think. My Standard gauge bogies fit perfectly under the LaBelle 0n3 coach.
I don't know the measures of the Williams bogies.
Best wishes

Large / Re: G Scale VS On30
July 11, 2011, 03:03:08 AM
Hey NarrowMinded,
"G" = Garden and was born by LBG "Lehmann's Gartenbahn". So most people say. It was the first manufacturer of trains who run outdoors.
In the meantime many manufacturers steped on the train with all kind of different scales. All run on 45mm track but remember: scale 1 ist standart gauge 1:32 (1435mm), 1:22,5 (1000mm), 1:20,3 (914mm/3'). This are the true scales to the track.
All other sizes are out off scale to the track an will be called "G" - here in Germany.
