Thanks Chuck
I got the idea one day when i had taken an old ball point pen apart
to use the body as a tube for another project and i saw the spring laying there on the table and the spirals of the spring looked like an Auger  ::)  :o  The rest is history

So far evreryone likes the layout
They all love the operating coal tipple
I can't believe any thing as simple and cheap as 2 ball point pen springs glued end to end
laying in a soda straw cut in half horizontally to form a trough and when rotated via a low RPM motor makes an auger to move the coal works so good

Here's Bachmans Answer

Hello, the pin on the bottom of the second column (if looking at the board as pictured) is the #1 pin.
You can also see the markings for the #8 pin (bottom left column) and the #4 pin (top right column).

Hope this helps,

Ash

Yes Wow Sound is a new decoder from TCS and they come in different versions
1  Wires only no pin plug or resistors
2 8pin plug with out resistors< the one i used
3 8pin plug with resistors

so your thinking is correct Jonathan  if i would have used # 3

Actualy the loco didn't run at all when i first plugged it in then i reversed the plug and every thing but the lights worked
so i'm wondering if there is something wrong with the board
i ordered a new one

Not sure if the number 8 is marking the position of the number 8 hole on the socket Here's a view

The LEDS were Factory installed so polarity is not an issue i plugged a wow sound decoder into the board and everything works except the lights

General Discussion / LED Lights

Trying to figure out why the LED lights don't work on my Bachmann Berkshire
that I recently installed a wow sound decoder in
Every thing works ok except the lights
When I push F-O I get the generator sound but no lights in either direction
I removed the LED in the tender and applied 2.5 volts directly to it and it lit up fine

I'm wondering if I have a bad board or component on the board
Or if there is some Wow sound setting that needs changed

has anyone had this problem ?

It looks like you have already determine that it is DCC ready.

Rich

I think so Rich but i need the drawings to be able to figure out the wire plugs

It has 2  plugs i of which is a 2 wire plug and i'm guessing thats the lights
the other is a 4 wire  plug and i guess thats the red black power pickup wire and the 2 motor wires
