Hi
I haven't posted for a while, and then it has usually been on the On30 section.
I've bought two gondolas, or at least that's what I think they are, but I cannot find them anywhere on this site. They are marked Bachmann China underneath on the chassis. Two truck, but fairly short, timber sides with timber stanchions let into pockets on the otherwise plain sided frames.
They have truck mounted couplers, one came with EZ mate, the early type with the nylon tag, not the spring, to close the knuckle. The other came with the older horn type, though both were bought as new. Painted red for the body, and black for the chassis, all plastic wheels.
I'm guessing that they are an old line, but with a bit of tinkering, metal wheels and Kadee couplers they'll do fine for On30. I threw the boxes before I tried to identify them, but I'm fairly sure they were silver series. I've had then apart to repaint them, there is a steel plate with three holes in it between the top of the chassis and the underside of the floor. There are 4 fairly crude truss rods with turnbuckles.
I'd like to identify them in case I can get any more, especially at the price!
Frank
