Hi Geoff! I haven't purchased any Bachmann rolling stock, but have purchased several off the G scale steamers, specifically 2 and 3 truck Shays, a Climax and a Heisler, and have experienced no quality issues to date. Like so many others, I'm having problems installing decoders, but mostly due to my ignorance. I purchased the 3 truck Shay with a Tsunamis  sound system installed, and it ran on DCC right out of the box. I haven't looked into the tender to see why I did not have to install a decoder. I'm currently operating  DCC with a MRC Prodigy system. You known what they say: 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Good luck - Austin in NW Washington.

Has anyone installed a MRC decoder in the new Bachmann G scale K-27. If so, any advise, hints or precautions. Austin

At the risk of being simplistic  , I ordered and installed the QSI motor and sound board for the K.  Pulled out dummy plug, plugged in the QSI, and whadda ya know  , everything works like its supposed to.  DCC of course, I don't know about any other.  Just thought I would throw this in here.

Hi All! Have you heard of anyone installing an MRC decoder in a K-27. I had Phoenix Sound installed at St. Aubins' where I purchased the K-27, and I have MRC decoders ready to install but am very hisitant to begin the installation. Austin
