HO / Re: Idle Locos on DCC
February 07, 2008, 10:52:56 PM
I run two Train sets w/lights on my Bachmann DCC command unit without power problems. Both sets use lights for passenger trains.
On the far end of the layout, I have an added powered rerailer track.

On a separate track, I run 4 DCC locomotives using a Prodigy DCC controller, no passenger cars. No problems with power on startup, or any time.

Note: I use a needle nose pliers to pinch all rail connectors when I build a layout. This assures best current flow through the tracks.

You can use the DC turnouts with your DCC command unit, you just have to use a separate 12 volt ac power supply, or use the assessory connection on your old controller for the switches.

Alternately, you can replace the switches with Bachmann DCC switches, which don't need ac power, just connect the switches and use the DCC controller to switch them.

I was afraid that would be the answer.
Thanks for all the replies!

HO / Crossing signal
January 28, 2008, 07:33:27 PM
Hello,
I saw an ad for an EZ-Track crossing signal assessory.
The crossing arms move automatically when the train passes over the track.
How does it work? Is it electrical or mechanical? Can I use it on my DCC system?
Thanks,

HO / Re: DCC Switching

I have read elsewhere on this board that the Loco ID 9 is the address. I presume that the imbedded "set button" specifies switch #1 to 8.
Is this correct?

Thanks.

I run the Acela Express on EZ-Track 26" curves, and it looks fine.

HO / DCC Switching
January 18, 2008, 12:56:34 PM
Hello,
I'm considring buying the new Bachmann EZ-Track DCC switches such as the #44131 switch.
The problem is that there isn't any information on your website that describes how  these switches work.
How are the switches addressed, and switched?
Thanks!
