Large / Re: Coupler height and interoperation
May 13, 2012, 06:14:51 PM
Thanks, all. I omitted to say in the original post that most of my stock is Bachmann with the low-mounted couplers, and the K-27's offset coupler was fine until I bought an AMS coach, which rather complicated things! That's why I was looking for ways to raise the coupler height on some of the older stock, rather than just use the offset couplers supplied with the K-27. I wasn't aware that Kadee made a suitable height-adapter coupler to fit the 1:22 stock. Adapting selected vehicles with those looks like the best solution - thanks again.

Large / Coupler height and interoperation

Older Bachmann G scale stock has the couplers at a lower height than the 1:20.3 models.
Any suggestions on either a universal solution for all my stock, to bring the 1:22 scale vehicles' couplers up to the height of the K-27's coupler, or maybe to modify one boxcar as a convertor vehicle?

Large / Re: How to fit a plow to a K-27?
December 01, 2011, 06:21:01 PM
Thanks, Sleeping Bear,
I hadn't searched carefully enough! From what I found, I think the key to getting the plow on is to remove the smokebox door number plate, which I hadn't done as it seems to be glued in. Thaks for your suggestion about how to do a better search.

Large / How to fit a plow to a K-27?
November 19, 2011, 10:19:27 AM
I've just spent a frustrating hour trying to fit a snowplow to my K-27 #463. I removed the pilot beam and can see that there are two lugs in the under side of both the original pilot beam and the snowplow assembly - these drop neatly into holes in the cast frame spacer on the normal pilot, but try as I might, I cannot get the plow far enough back to get the lugs to go into the holes!

Can anybody out there who has fitted a plow to a K-27 offer any suggestions? I've looked at previous posts about plows but didn't find any comments on this problem.

Large / Broken gear on Coal Creek 0-4-0T
November 15, 2010, 12:26:15 PM
I need to replace the final drive plastic gear on an 0-4-0T. IT's the Coal Creek version, of the older and cheaper 0-4-0T. Can't see it amongst the listed spares on the Bachmann web site, anyone know if it is possible to obtain a spare gear?
(I'm in the UK).

Thanks
Keith.
