Thomas & Friends / Re: New to bachmann plz help

bachmann is HO scale. Lionel is O scale. DCC really isnt main stream for bachmann thomas the tank line yet.. if it will be we will see. If you are inclined there are videos on how to make thomas or percy DCC friendly by modifying the non DCC thomas or percy. Bachmann thomas the tank trains runs on HO track, you should look at a video on youtube about the different types. typically bachmann ez track or kato unitrack are the easisest because they snap together and have pre built in ballast or the grey part the track sits on. purchasing new items like a set will get you the power pack, track, and engine with cars. DC or regular non DCC is easier. you go forward or backward and at what speed. DCC is a whole other beast and you should do some research on what kind of DCC system and all the in and outs.

DCC allows you to have multiple trains on the same loop or system of track and have one train move and the other not move. if you dont have DCC and i have a two trains on the same loop they both move based on power. for instance, say the whole track is connected to one power pack and i have a siding. with DC both will move. with DCC i can pick which train moves. one, both, or neither.

i would start with a thomas set or percy set and add from there. look into DCC vs DC on youtube videos and learn what it is you think you want to get into. DC doesnt really run on DCC and DCC engines dont run on DC. You can but there is a huge asterics with dc on DCC train set.

Chaz, grandpuff, and anyone else that has scratch built/modeled custom rolling stock/engines. what coupling do you use and where do you buy them from? really appreciate any feedback.

Where can I buy the couplers that the HOn30 trains use? I am modeling HOn30 models for my home layout and i cannot find where to buy these narrow gauge couplers. I am a entry level collector so I buy all the items bachmann makes for thomas the tank but creating my own items that are more grungy and dirty is exciting so my first model below is the green and cream coaches from the skarloey railway. First 3d print is going now and excited to figure out what wheels to buy and what couplers to use but at the moment I want to use the same couplers as stock bachmann HOn30.

Thanks!

thank you very much!

I ordered a case of (25) 3 ft code 80 peco track on ebay for 100. going to make a smaller lay out now but will maybe try my hand at dioramas or other layouts in the future. now to plan the layout!

As a Thomas fan who is into model trains can we please make some expensive Bachmann Thomas models and not use it as an excuse. I have a job right? Like I spend money on things I want. If the price appears to be to expensive do a trial and build in some margins and let me spend 300 on an engine. Its annoying that the market assumption restricts what I would buy. Be upfront with your customers and if they understand and their is transparency I don't see the problem unless I'm am a huge minority. Or who knowns use kick starter. You have a Author in Brandon Sanderson selling expensive leatherbounds and has all the money baked into the kick starter. If it hits your goal great make a run of trains and cover your costs and make money. If it does not fund then dont do it.

I would love to see more HOn30 items for skarloey railway to engines to pull behind them.

Also for HO i would love to see other carnival alternatives like the flat wagon with circus materials as well as some of the animal wagons with topham circus signs or even some that look like the hornby models that were released in the past. It would appear that most of these are repaints and not necessarily new tooling.

Hello,

I have a question regarding the HO narrow gauge wagons that were shown last night on the trainworld stream. they showed orange, brown, and green wagons do match the scale of the skarloey HOn30 engines? looks like yes because they showed them with skarloey with them in the video.

follow up question; does all the Thomas the tank narrow gauge coaches or cars scale well with the HOn30?

thanks again!

Thomas & Friends / Re: Bachmann Duncan Thread

I am severely disappointed that this was cancelled. I ordered the whole Bachmann line this year and was extremely excited about Duncan.  I can understand the reasoning but i refuse to believe that there isnt a path forward for duncan to be produced. I know many thomas fans have a threshold that we want them to meet but having a character is better than not having them. obviously there may be options years from now but thats the problem. completing the HON30 should be a priority. sounds like a 3d printed model would be the way forward with this news.
