Hi all,

I have an issue with a recently purchased Bachmann EZ Command (44933) controller. I bought this from Amazon back on January 27, 2023 along with along with a N scale Bachmann GP38-2 DCC Locomotive (66852). I had no problem with this combination. Everything worked as advertised. Ran it several times over the span of a week or so.

Today (2/4/2023) I purchased a new DCC N scale steam locomotive at a local hobby shop (Broadway Limited Paragon Rolling Thunder USRA Light Pacific L&N #241 [part #6248]). This new locomotive started up and ran fine for about a foot or so, and then stopped, and the controller's lights started flashing in an abnormal pattern (see linked video).

I removed the loco from the track, and powered down the controller (plugged into a power strip with a switch). Turned it back on, and the controller was still in the abnormal blinking lights pattern. Turned it back off and let it sit for 30 minutes or so in hopes that it would reset itself. Turned it back on with no change (still not working). I also unplugged the track lead and plugged it into a single section of isolated track with the same results (removing any chance of a short at the track level).

Is there a way to reset the controller, or does it need to be returned/replaced? Should I be concerned about running other manufacturer's locos with this controller? My understanding is that DCC is an industry standard, and I should have no problems doing this.

Thanks in advance...
