General Discussion / Cleaning pads
June 30, 2020, 01:57:19 AM
Where might I buy the cleaning pads for Bachmann's track cleaning car? I just bought a brand new n scale track cleaning 50' plug door box car Union Pacific, and it didn't come with pads, not one.

Frustrating purchasing products that need other products to work.

Cleaning pads for my cleaner car? Where might I buy them, Mr. Bachmann?

General Discussion / Re: EZ turnout Problem

There's a renown model railroading enthusiast, Fifer. He has a "how to" video on just about anything n scale model railroading.

He has a segment on wiring a turnout. Not quite what one would think.

I used his method to wire the KATO double crossover, and what once wasn't working, now works nearly flawlessly.

When the issue is more physical, like a bent switch rail or something, rectifying the situation becomes more challenging.

General Discussion / Bus line

Bus line starts with "to track" lines.

A cluster of turnouts represented by a double cross-over. Is there any method to the madness of tying in 4 feeders inches apart?

I want to feed off my bus at the cluster double-crossover (4 feeds), at a turnout across the oval, and to the furthered side of the next oval over, my layout essentially 2 double ovals connected to each other.

Can do?

This is bachmann rolling stock. I dropped this, and for whatever reason, I can't put humpty back together again. Perhaps I'm missing a piece.

What kind of truck am I looking to purchase, gentlemen?

This is the contraption I made.

The power source says  "INPUT: 100-240v - 1.5A 50/60HZ"
Then it says "OUTPUT: 14V=3A".

Is this enough juice to power 8 remote turnouts? Will this fry anything?

Will a 240v-1.5A power source be enough to power 8 Bachmann remote turnouts?

General Discussion / Headlamp issue?
April 06, 2020, 05:00:26 AM
A novice to the hobby, I have up and running an EZ Command system. I purchased an EZ track set that came with everything to get started, including the EZ Command module with 2 locomotives (no sound).

I've notice that when one of the locomotive's derails, the headlight flickers. If I have it solidly on the track, there's no light.

This happens for both locomotives. A QUESTION, PLEASE: Do I have to use the EZ Command to program the headlamp to work? Otherwise, what's happening? Why do the headlights flicker when the locomotive derails and as I try to re-rail it, but when it's running on the track - nothing.

HELP, if you can, please.

No BS, I've checked at least 6 sites that are "out of stock", ebay included.

Apparently a victim of slow sales, there's chatter about the item being discontinued. It looks like the Bachmann EZ Command walk-around companion went out of production in 2015 or so.

Plug it into the EZ Command system and roll. That's effed up that you can't even find it at all.

The walk around EZ Command companion - what happened?

I've searched EVERYWHERE and they're sold out. They sell the connector pieces - tons of them. Apparently, however, they've discontinued the item that a LOT PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR.

Seemingly, the ONLY Bachmann recommended way to expand the system.

Please, Bachmann! Bring back the EZ Command walk-around companion!

Loksound is a competitor DCC / sound decoder to Soundtraxx products like Sound Value, and others.  I presume it is a catchy abbreviation of "Locomotive Sound."

On that note, does "Locomotive Sound", aka, LoKsound work with the EZ Command? Ready out of the box (programming  involved understood)?

General Discussion / Loksound equipped

Do locomotives that are "dcc/loksound equipped" means the sound is ready to go? Do I need another device for sound? Where does the sound broadcast from - the locomotive?  I'm about to purchase a "DCC sound value Econami equipped" locomotive for my Bachman EZ COMMAND module on EZ track. Will I have everything I need to hear sound, or must I purchase a sound box or something? All help with these various "sound equipped" locomotives is greatly appreciated.
