I actually saved the box, and the schematic was in the box.  I was also able to get the gunk out of the gears.  It looks like the gears are low to the 'ground' clearance, and loose ballast can get caught up into the gears.  At least I know how to clean the gears out now.  Appreciate anyone's help.  I looked at the website suggested, and didn't find the schematic, so I'm gonna upload it, as a service.

Have a cable car which hasn't been run very much, but it looks like some ballast got up into the gears, and I want to take the motor truck out and clean it.  How?  Do I unscrew the other truck and the top comes off?  It looks like the plastic gears are out of line...please help.
