Thanks!  This is just the sort of thing that can be very confusing if you don't know what you're doing, like me.

I bought an Alco 2-6-0 for my son, and it was running beautifully until it derailed and tipped over. It seemed dead. I was almost ready to send it in for warranty work when I plugged in the tender and off it went. It seems fine as long as the tender is plugged in. Is it supposed to be this way, unable to run without it's tender? Is this a bug or a feature? (By the way, it's straight DC, no decoder.)
Any advice appreciated!
