Before sending in I would pop off the shell & look for the problem a lot of Loco's have plastic gears you might have broken gears. If there metal gears & seem to be OK a little dab of gear lube should stop the noise if your mechanically inclined you should be able to repair the issue yourself. You could save yourself a lot of waiting time if you repair it yourself just order the parts you need & from your manual that came with the Loco you should be OK. I try to repair all my Locos myself because for some reason it takes longer to get the Loco back if I let my LHS do the work or send it into Bachmann.

Hi Everyone...

Need a bit of Help hear I have an ACELLA Set with 1 Powered LOCO & A Dummy LOCO on the other end. I had the Powered Loco converted into a DCC Decoder with Sound @ my local Hobby shop. Well when I got the Engine Back 1 week after NEW YEARS I Dropped off the LOCO before Thanksgiving. The LOCO sounds like CRAP / Runs Crappy too & YES my Track is Clean LOL. I Popped off the Shell & it looks like the Train TECH put in a Frankenstin'ed Decoder & looked used & was in a different LOCO before the wires did not look new. I called the Hobby Shop Up to find out the Hobby shop owner Had to FIRE the Train TECH & give him a lifetime BAND to the hobby shop  Turns out this guy was taking Money for Repairs & pocketing the Money & putting Used Equipment in Clients Locos & once not working well got MORE Money & making other HACK Repairs & Taking that money as well from clients. This was a 3 year Scam going on under the owners knowledge. But I was still out the $175.00 I myself & the other 10 owners that got the shaft from this guy. Now the LAW is looking into his Action's & everything is pending so who knows what's going to happen to the guy.

MY Question... Is there a DCC Decoder with sound designed for this LOCO I can get & what brand & price. Thanks

ANYWAY my main Reason for the POST

I'd say just get Wheel Spacers to bring up the rolling stock to same level of your engine.

It could be the Decoder inside the engine LOST is PROGRAM OR is going BAD... I had an issue with a Non-Bachmann Loco A PA-1 A unit I have... Sort of the same issue you have but only my Loco would start up no problems & than start moving in a jerking / twitching motion & stop. Cleaned my Loco wheels & track to still have the same issues Took the Loco to my HS Train Tech he originally thought the Decoder LOST it's Programming So he re-programmed the Loco & brought it back home Loco Ran Good for 2 days than the same problem came back. I call the HS up & spoke to the Train Tech He said the Decoder WENT BAD thankfully the Loco was still under factory warrenty I sent loco in for repair.... The Factory sent me a New PA-1 A unit in the mail I had it 3 days later... I had NO Problems with the Loco since than....

Thanks for the tip's & suggestions... The Acella Train Set run's nicely on my layout I did find I must use the outer track on my layout I have a 2 track main where I can run 2 trains different directions... I found out with the Acella on my inside track the passenger cars body's just swing out just a little too far on my turns & clip the other train's rolling stock causing a derailment. I tried to slow down the train's to in prove the distance but both trains would meet up again... So I switched the Acella to the outside track Problem Solved...

The Draw Bar couplers on my Acella don't seem to be a issue since the Train will be coupled up most of the time I have a Tunnel siding track ( Just for storage it's a powered DEAD END Track section Good for about 20 extra rolling stock cars ) & that's pretty much where my Acella will be parked when not in use... I will be checking the Bachmann parts section for spare draw bars hopefully they are still available

I have an ACELLA set it came with 2 Locos 1 powered & 1 non-powered & the Locos are NOT the HHP Locos does anyone know the history on this set JUST pulled this car out of 1 of my train storage bins under my Layout.... I Remember I got This as an extra car I got from a Train Shop over 2 hours away that closed up I went there cause of the good deal's & it was the only car they had so I picked it up as an extra car BOX is a little damaged but the CAR is in perfect shape...

Here is the Shelby Brown. We've ridden the tourist train a few times in Jackson MO.

WOW I would of loved to ride in the Loco or see it in action for myself....

FYI... The Loco does run I hooked up a DC transformer to a section of spare track I had. Engine Growl's to life wheels seem to be tight though I put a dab of lube on them loco ran a little better. Ran good on low speeds does not like higher speeds though... This Loco might turn into my Christmas time under the tree Loco (Yes I still do that).....

I hate to say this about any model locomotive, but there's not much you can do with it.  It's not a runner.  No prototype that I know of. I wouldn't want to tinker with it.  Doesn't have any useful parts that I can see.  If you had the complete set and the box it came with...

Regards,

Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan & everyone else that helped figure out it was an Older Lionel from the 60's pretty neat though... I have decided to clean the Loco up & display it on one of my Shelf's I have by my Layout as a conversation piece.

HO / Unreconized Loco Brand & Make "Can anyone help me"
February 09, 2017, 07:55:55 AM

I got this Loco from a Neighbor / Friend 2 doors up from me that was cleaning up the basement @ his Mothers House & gave it to me.
It has no Box or brand markings on it. I just know it's a DC Loco My questions are is it worth keeping or refurbishing it & how much would this Loco be worth Cleaned up & resold..

Any help would be great Thanks.....
