Just a quick word. Phoned Bachmann and the part arrived the other day. Fitted and all OK.

THANKS ;D

Daft question number one. Will the replacement part fail? i.e. is the failure part of a bad batch with for example, damp in the plastic.....OR is it a design fault and should I take the kindly given advice above? Sorry if this is old ground but I ve had a look around and found nothing.....

Hello.
I am the owner of several Consolidations and very pleased I am with them too. I bought them in the knowledge that they have their niggles, qualitywise. To date, the only problem I have had with them is the leading bogie....er...truck bolster breaking on the tender. THis is pitifully weak mechanically. Anyway, one failed and I wrote to Bachmann(UK) using the online form. A few days later a replacement appeared FOC, excellent.. Now a few months later, one has failed on another machine. So I wrote off again. Three times. Nothing.

Bach-mann, is it possible for you to help me? I have a locomotive in the dead pool for the sake of a part costing less than a Dollar. Ive tried super gluing it together but the plastic just crumbles.

Thanks anyway.

Large / Re: Coupling Height.

Jon,
Thanks for the reply....Yep.... with you regarding the offset couplings.
But then....the couplings will be too low for all the other 1:20.3 stuff.
Sorry, I didn't make that clear in the first post. I have other 1:20.3 stock and I wanted to couple them up with the higher couplings.......Is it time to get the toolkit out and attack the mining wagons?

Large / Coupling Height.
December 30, 2008, 01:28:18 PM
Evening all,
Just a quick question or two for the Bachmann or someone in the know.
If the mining wagons(92502/3) are 1:20.3, why are the couplings at the same height as the 1:22.5 vehicles?
Given that the coupling height of my Davenport is approx. 1/4" higher than the wagon, how reliable will that be?
Is there a fix that will bring the wagon coupling up to the correct height?
Perhaps a batch of UPWARD offset couplings?
Thanks for your help and Happy New Year everyone.
Cheers
John

I got the first of my two a while ago. They're fine locos!

Have a look here for running qualities:

I used WD40 on the track just as an interim, the locos I usually use dont seem to care about dirty track, but these did. So I cleaned it properly a week or so later.

How come we in England got them before you in the USA?
Tis usually the other way round surely?

Hello. I wonder if anyone can help me. Im looking to buy one of these moguls but I dont want to get caught out with an old version. I know that the 4-6-0 "Big Hauler" locomotives have five or six different versions with improvements with each. Do the 1:20.3 2-6-0s have a similar development lineage? If so how do I tell? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Cheers,
John.
