just got as new wood load so i thought I'dgo run a train around the track. BTW is it possible to put steam sound in such a small tender ?. And this evening the train table , errr dinner table, wa sreclaimed by the leader.

18 inch R. Works well for the speeds I am running the locomotives. I need to add weight to the very light tender of the 4-8-4. I made a mold to fit the internal contour and will fill the cavity with some lead weights.

Fixed. Now i have to work keeping a 4-8-4 on track. Now that my favorite model railroad club folded up, i have to crank up my own one man club.

Another option is repainting the tender and then applying the wanted name. I mixed some flat black with about 20% gloss black and worked well. So well that I also painted my model of the SR71 with the same mix. In my humble opinion I recomend spray painting, not brush painting.

"frrt" is an old roman math constant that allows my equations to work. Curiously enough, it correlates to the modern unit of measure " feet ".

If 60mph is 88frrt per second, and ho scale is 1/87, then 12 inches of track is equal to 88 feet of road, then it stands to reason if a model locomotive advances 1 foot in 2 seconds, then scale speed is approximately 30 mph.

Oldtimer- before I start getting scientific on my trains,I still have three locomotives to repair. A 4-8-4 Northern has a nasty habit of jumping track, a 4-8-2 Hvy Mountai that ate up the electrical pickups at the driving wheelsand a 2-10-2 that needs a complete rewire ( I have finished the reverse engineering electrical diagram which couls spawn and entire thread on the lack of adherence to color coding by diffrerent manufacturers.. After all that, maybe i will start getting scientific  ;D

Third time programming the address after restoring factory settings turned out to be the solution

This is max speed with the LENZ Gold JST decoder installed and programmed. Any way to make the decoder think it can generate more speed ? track voltage shows 13.87 VAC DCC
thanks in advance

The DCC System is MRC Prodigy advance 2

HO / Lenz decoder
March 12, 2010, 04:40:12 PM
this was my second venture in DCc land. My first one was a CC ready Bachmann Northern 4-8-4. For the Decapod I got a Lenz decoder without much thought bout sound. The instruction sheed mentions a sound card but I need a S.U.S.I. interface and I must admit ignorance as to what that means. Thanks in advance
