Not quite as good in terms of lettering, but the tooling is nearly as good. The N&W scheme has major errors and I heard some comments on the MEC color.

A tremendous value nonetheless (I have two of them!).

No more "bigfoot" look!

The new Bachmann NE Caboose is an amazingly good model! Body mounted couplers, window glass, and good ride height!



Compares favorably to Atlas NE-6 (except Atlas got the lettering correct!)

Overall, a great model, especially for the money. The Andrews trucks (incorrect for N&W) look to be an easy swap (couplers are body mounted). The stove pipe needs "adjustment". The roofwalk is molded in, but looks nice.

They even tooled the floor surfaces on the end platforms (ie they aint just smooth like on the GP7).

Hopefully Bachmann destroyed the tooling on these - they were really poor models.

If Bachmann re-tooled them with scale width hoods and details on a par with recent models like the GP7 and RS3, then that would be pretty cool!

Wait, found this over on the Railwire from Chris vanderHeide:

They're National Steel Car prototypes (so Canadian-built), a slight variation of the classic cylindrical grain car with the additions at the tops of the ends for more
cubic capacity.
They were originally built for at least DMLX, NAHX, ATSF, TRC, CPI and have scattered around in secondary ownership. (DME ex-ATSF; CN ex-HLMX, ex-?; WC ex-NAHX/CPI; seen a few other random reporting marks that were definately originally CPI cars.)

So when were they first built?

I was surprised to see that Bachmann is tooling up a completely new freight car in N scale:

That's crap news about the tenders. I bought some for some projects - lucky I did. Most are sold out at MB Kleins. I guess some stores have tons of them?

Supply the loco with a tender that is not correct and the customers will buy the correct one separately.

I hope not too. In my case it translates into NO SALE.

I skipped buying the Heavy USRA 4-8-2 Mountain (even though N&W was one of the two roads that received these under the USRA) for the same reason - Bachmann put the wrong tender on it.

My pockets are simply not deep enough to support this kind of thing (the 4-8-2's MSRP was $250, and now you want me to buy another tender on top of this?)
