On30 / Re: The 2019 On30 Generic Wish List
January 28, 2019, 08:57:28 PM
I know my first choice won't happen, and a Bachmann rep flat out told me so in Charlotte.  That would be a WP&Y MLW diesel.  I personally think that it would sell well, and could be very versatile, but such is life.

More realistically though, I would love to see them bring out a 4-4-0 and 2-6-0 like they did in large scale.  They already have the drawings for them, just need to figure out the tooling.  Not holding my breath for either case.

[He said the market wouldn't support it.  I disagree...
I don't. A WP&Y diesel is a very specific piece of rolling stock, and very large (in a On30 market where many want stuff as short as possible).
Hey, I've ridden the WP&Y twice and would love to have a On30 version of one of their locomotives (though it'd never fit in the theme of my WW2-era ET&WNC layout), but I agree with the Bachmann person who told you it wouldn't sell.
"Hey, wouldn't it be cool if they made..." usually translates to, "I want one, so shouldn't a bunch of other people?"
No, there are so many other things that'd sell better than a WP&Y diesel would in On30 (or any other scale, for that matter).

I use as an example of the LGB version...  They have sold bajillions of them in a bunch of different variants.  Bachmann could make sets to sell them at the gift shop to all those cruise passengers...  As for one paint scheme road using them, I reply with "So?".  Far be it from Bachmann to slap a non prototype paint scheme onto one of these.  Plausible, Durango and Silverton, Cumbres and Toltec, SP and D&RGW.  A little far fetched, EBT or Tweetsie.  If it was designed with a fairly easy conversion to On3 possible, I think it could really do well.  I know it won't happen, I am fine with that.  I just think that it could really rock the market.  They have made some really random stuff over the years.

Sure would be nice if Bachmann released a WP&Y diesel to go with those cars.

I asked a Bachmann rep at the WGH show in Charlotte about this.  The short of it is, Aint gonna happen...  You are going to be better off finding a suitable HO chassis, and 3d print a body.  He said the market wouldn't support it.  I disagree, but it is what it is...

N / New Paint Schemes for PCC cars?
January 06, 2014, 10:56:12 PM
Any chance of getting some new paint schemes for the PCC cars?  In particular Pacific Electric.  In all honesty, preferably the original LA version as opposed to the newer San Francisco PE scheme.  Thanks in advance!

Large / Original RC Big hauler parts
December 16, 2010, 09:59:21 PM
Mr Bach-Man,
I have an old original Big Hauler set, the RC one that I believe was the first that y'all brought out.  For whatever reason, my dad decided to remove the trucks from the cars and tender before shipping it out to me from California.  Unfortunately, it is looking like he has lost the screws that attached the couplers to the cars.  I looked in your online parts catalog, and they appeared to not be availible there.  I currently have a tender and gondola that I would need screws for.  The set originally had the ten wheeler (still have), a gondola (still have), a flat car (who knows where it ended up) and the four wheel bobber caboose.  I never saw these mentioned again, everything else seems to be powered off the rails.  Out of curiosity, why did y'all decide to go that route originally?  Thanks in advance.

On30 / Re: Need Advice - Planning First On30 Layout

I have seen pictures of the 4-6-0 on the Peco turntable.  I personally am using their code 100 track for my modular group and it appears to be the standard for a lot of modular groups across the country.  Also, just as a rule of thumb, whenever possible in any scale, use as larg of a curve radius as you can fit.  Your equipment will look better and operate better through them.

If you look, it says that the 0-4-0s are availible with sound for $275...

Here is a side by side comparison of an SPNG ten wheeler to a Bachmann ten wheeler.  The tender itself would be another beast entirely...

Guess it comes up smaller than I thought, but the main thing is, that it would take a fair amount of surgery to do it...

I would buy the loco you want, and if it performs sub-par, apply bullfrog snot to one of the drivers, and you should be ok...

I would throw my name in the hat for a couple of SPNGish 10 wheelers.  I would also be interested in the whaleback tenders...

I am glad to see that I am not the only onew to think this way.  I know that kids are the future of the hobby, but there is a limit to ones patience.

On30 / Automatic reversing EZ Track
January 12, 2009, 10:35:58 PM
I am interested in the auto-reversing EZ track for use on an On30 mining module.  I don't need the whole trolley set, so would I be able to use Bachmann Product code 44548 or 44549 and still have the auto-reversing feature?  Thanks in advance.

On30 / Idea for the Bach Man
December 27, 2008, 08:14:13 PM
In HO and N scales, you sell seperate tenders in several different designs.  Have you thought about doing this in On30?  You could do a whaleback like several roads used, or shorter versions of the Connie tender.  Have you ever considered this?
