Thanks Len.   I never noticed that and will check out some of my cars.   But I have had extremely good luck with the EZ Mate IIs and probably will not change them out.

I am glad to see that Bachmann is going to produce the Reading GP7.  Which color scheme will the shell be painted?  From what I have seen in my Reading books,  and I hope,  it will be the olive green.   I would like Bachmann to consider offering this with dcc only.   Also,   since you have the F7 in your line,  the Reading F7s in the black with the green stripe would be a GREAT idea,  especially in eastern Pa.  Also consider offering your Alco FA and FB in the Reading scheme.

Do the couplers have a coiled spring to hold the knuckle closed or a piece of plastic,  like a "cat's whisker"?  If the latter,  replace the couplers with ones with a coiled spring.  Now,  98% of my On30 equipment is from Bachmann and love the stuff save for one thing.   The coupler boxes are very shallow and in most cases,  a Kadee coupler of any sort does not fit in the box without binding when the cover is re-installed,  so I stick with the Bachmann EZ Mate II which is the one with the coiled spring.   I have absolutely no problems with them.   Now to Roger,  what is the difference between the On30 height gauge and the standard HO height gauge from Kadee?   That is the one I have been using for years and to be truthful,  virtually no cars or engines that I have from Bachmann came where the coupler heights did not match up to that HO gauge.

I work part time in a local train store.   The building has two stores under one roof,  one being for Lionel,  etc.   They have rubber engineers for Lionel trains that will work.   You have to cut the body off at the waist and open up the arm pit a bit so that the arm fits over the edge of the window.  They cost about $3 each.  Store is Hennings Trains,  128 S LIne Street,  Lansdale, Pa 19046(?).   215-362-2442.  They are open Tues-Sat.

Good Morning all,

    I opted to put another manufacture's Baldwin sound module in my center cab.   From what I have heard on YouTube,  the sound I chose is very close to the Bachmann sound.   But,  the sound is only a SMALL part of what makes the a GREAT engine.    It will be the only diesel power on my On30 railroad and I am glad I made the purchase.
Now the next step is to encourage Bachmann to release a small 2-8-2 in On30.

Thank you for your kind comment Jonathan.   One thing I need to get a picture of is a section of my On30 railroad where the mine branch leaves the mainline.   For about 5-6 feet,  the track does a slight reverse curve with both pines and aspens on both sides of the track,  and the trees are up close to the track.

Thanks for your response Steve.   If that is fact that the sound module is not ready yet,  then that makes my decision MUCH easier to go with another sound unit.   Will get either a Cummins diesel or a Baldwin for light switchers.  But,  that being said,  this is one sweet engine.   It runs great and will take the tightest radii I have on my railroad,  that being 18r.

       I have tried to find a sound file or video of a Whitcomb diesel to listen to the prime mover sound.    There are a couple on YouTube but for me,  not very good.    Is there any way I can hear a sound sample of the sound decoder offered by Bachmann for this engine?

Pardon my laziness for not having read all the previous posts here.   While I agree in general with the use of Kadee couplers,   I also use the Bachmann EZ Mate II,  especially on my On30 equipment.   There is one basic reason.   For a reason I do not understand,  the coupler boxes on most of the Bachmann equipment I own in both HO and On30 are more shallow than ones from other manufactures.   For me to equip my Bachmann rolling stock and engines with all Kadees  I would have to build up or replace the boxes that come from the factory.    That being said,  I have only ever broken one of my EZ Mate II couplers and that was my absent mindedness.    I was not paying attention and managed to ram into a drywall screw used to protect a stub end siding in a hidden storage yard.

     I love it when guys like you and Jonathan post pictures of their modeling.   I am always curious to see things like color of ballest on mainlines as well as yard areas and sidings along the main.  I also enjoy checking out buildings and what colors are used to paint or stain them.  So keep on posting.   BTW.....I didn't win anything.  We are just two modelers speaking to our preferences.

      As you say,  to each his own.   I have used code 100 rail for years and still do.   I was once a member of a local model railroad club who was very much opposed to code 100 rail.   One night I had a number of the members over to see my railroad.  When the night's fun was finished,  one of the greatest opponents to code 100 expressed how much he loved my mine area and the mainline that passed it.   This area is totally sceniced.   He did not realize that I had code 100 track there.     
      I have seen any number of pictures of your old railroad and the one that you are building now.   I think you do wonderful work.   I appreciate good modeling,  but when you model the way I do with no specific prototype and local,  code 100 works out quite well.   
        And one more thought......there is a need for code 100 track in On30 which I also model.    Keep up your good work.
