thank you all your ideas have helped me greatly. i think ill go with a little more rural setting with a small town with a few shops and homes. Along with a station siding and water tower. on the other side i will have a platform, coal tower, water tower,  single bay loco shed and two sidings. i will also have a small paesture. if i could find out how to post pics i would  8)
Thanks again

yea I have a few tips
1. what ever you use for water paint the base a black to very dark green not blue (Yes no blue :o )
2. make sure your base is water tight (YOU DONT want resin or expocy or what ever you use were you dont want water, Duh )
3. there are many ways to model water and i ONLY have tried TWO of them so get more replys than just mine!!!  ;D

I have more tips if you need then by the way. 8)

I agree competly even thought i am not a ICRR modeler but i would have if there where any aforidable IC locos around when i sold off all my santa fe locos.  >:( Sence there were not i built my 1920's B&O layout. Now that i have invested a large amount of money in B&O steam i will more than likely not start an ICRR layout. :'( i have no regets about modeling the B&O in the 1920's for i had relitives that worked for the B&O and the PRR during the 1920's and 1930's. Anyway i would have liked to have modeled a road name with a little less infunece by the USRA. Not to say i don't like the great eastern railroad congalmerates. (i do remember i Model the B&O i also like mopac or anything that has to do with trains for that part  8) ). i wish that other have the chance to model the ICRR.
contiune this tread JIM.

Good luck
