Large / Re: 2020 Large Scale offerings...

Oddly enough, the German Elephant sells large overpriced locos as fast as they can produce them.
Perhaps The Bach-Man should produce European models as well.

Wait, I've made this suggestion before.

Models of European/English/Australian/South African/Indian locos seem to sell well even at ridiculous prices.

Two years and counting......

I understand that this is a limited production item - most likely manufactured by ASTER- but LGB's prices are becoming ridiculous.
The Bach-man needs to start producing models of European, British/Australian/South African prototypes.
Even with the ridiculous prices, LGB and Accucraft are having no trouble selling their models.
If the Bach-man diversified, it would shake the large scale market to its core.

I run all my Climaxes - Climaxi?- on a minimun 5 foot diameter curve.
Keep in mind: running a larger loco on small dia. curve will cause greater wear on the drive train.
I run only 0-4-0 locos on curves smaller than 5 foot dia.

Large / Re: Bachmann #91197 2-4-2 Locomotive - Sound?

Bighead,
I have 4 of these locomotives and I am running the Soundtraxx ECO-200 (now discontinued) in 3 of them.
I have them installed exactly as outlined by JoeFloyd.
My 4th locomotive has the Soundtraxx TSU-2200 (current model) installed.
The stall current on these decoders is 2.0A and I have never had them fail.
It takes about 9 larger 4 axle cars being pulled through a 4 foot diameter curve to make the loco's drivers slip.

The second generation 2-4-2 "Lyn" has without a doubt the best gearbox of any G-scale steam locomotive of its size and class- I own over 100 locomotives.

You're going to love your new loco however you choose to upgrade it.

There is also a screw directly beneath the steamchest; if you remove this screw, the whole power unit will be able to pivot freely.

MRPP, I bought my Soundtraxx DCC decoders from Bachmann Parts Dept:

http://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_698&products_id=10473

I've purchased these decoders for my 3 Climax locos, my 2 Forneys and my 3 K-27s.

They drop right in.

I hope this info is of value.

Large / Re: New 'Annie' paint suggestion

D&GRW 168 is a T-12. If you stretched the Annie's frame and boiler behind the steam dome, it would be very convincing.

Some members claim it's due to the current "glut" of large scale products on eBay.
I personally prefer to buy my stuff new.
I noticed the downturn when LGB went into receivership.
It would seem that wherever LGB goes, the market follows.
LGB is now making new models and those models are much closer to scale, in limited production runs and very, VERY expensive.

Bachmann should start producing large scale European models to augment its current product line.

Imagine: a Zillertalbahn U-Series 0-6-2 made by Bachmann- LGB would be quaking in its boots. lol

I use Bachmann's Conductive Lubricant on the rails. The rails wipe clean with just a paper towel after each run.
I pull 12-15 cars -all with metal wheels- behind my SPC 4-4-0.
Just a helpful hint: if you use too much Conductive Lubricant on the rails, the DCC system will  shut down....a little goes a long way.

JV,

I found a website that has a side elevation of #11.
They also have all the info you would need to modify the pilot truck and pilot deck
for a prototypical look.

Hope this helps,

Large / Re: Narrow gauge bobber caboose

Tanker,
Go to GouldStudios.com
They have the drawing for the original D&RG Jackson and Sharp bobber cobooses delivered in 1871.
They also have the drawing for the D&SP bobber caboose that Accucraft modeled.
Let's see.....they also have drawings for boxcars, reefers....a C-16......a Mason Bogie etc.

The drawings are pricey but they are the absolute best reference source.

I still want a C-16 in a "as delivered" 1881 Baldwin/Brooks version.
But hey, I've only been posting this for the past 12 years.

If Bachmann manufactured Carters Brothers coaches in 1:20.3 scale, they wouldn't be competing with AMS.
Carters Brothers coaches would be a more accurate choice for pulling behind the Centennial 4-4-0 and 2-6-0.
No manufacturer currently produces Carters Brothers coaches.
