Beware and do not order anything on line directly from links on this site.  I recently purchased a locomotive from a shop in Pennsylvania. The next day my credit card company called me to ask if I had been purchasing a large number of TV sets and cameras.  Wha???  No I had not.  Identity theft is a very serious issue.  Make sure you do not use these links.  At least google for the actual shop for their IP address and make sure it starts with HTTPS:// or don't go there.  Fortunately for me, my credit card company was right on top of things and saved me from thousands of dollars in fraud charges.

Well yes you can.  I am using the QSI Quantum Engineer, sold by Broadway Limited.  I Believe that Atlas as well as some others may make the same box.  It has buttons that will operate the bell and whistle and a few other functions.  It connects between your power pack and the track.  What it does is change the track polarity a lot faster than you can giggle the direction switch, to activate the bell and whistle functions.  It works for me.  Get one, I think I paid around 30 bucks.

Yes you can, that's what I'm doing too.  The locomotive will need DCC and sound on-board.  I have several B-Man locos, all run fine on the MRC pack.  You can operate the bell & whistle by flipping the direction switch back and forth while in motion.  The loco will keep moving and only reverse direction when at full stop.  However, I use a Quantum Engineer accessory that handles the sound functions (by using relays to switch the polarity for you.)  These are available from several well known makers. 
Make sure the momentum switch on the MRC pack is in the off position, DCC doesn't like it.

Well, I'm curious, why would you want to?  I have one, it runs great.  As on almost all B-Man steamers, first remove the drawbar screw, beneath the loco cab.  Second, remove the screw that holds the leading truck, those two wheels in the front.  Then you will see a screw that goes up though the frame to the boiler (smoke box actually).  Remove it.  Then carefully lift from the cab end.  Should come off.

I agree, you must be very carefull to remember that you must remove that screw under the cab that connects the drawbar to the tender.  That screw goes up through the frame and connects to the body casting.
I forgot that once, and broke the plastic extension that connects the cab/boiler to the frame.   It's not catastrophic, but you will always have to use a needle nose pliers to take it apart or put it back in the future.  Connie still run nice, just don't pick it up, frame falls out from the boiler.

Yes, that's what I'm saying.  They make a conversion coupler kit for almost everything ever made.  And for the ones they don't have a conversion for, they have a universal coupler that will fit anything.  Look through their catalog, you'll find it.  For cars and locomotives.

Thank you Len, that's good stuff.  I guess what I have is an EL-C then.  I've been searching the web for pix of the EL-C in action on VGN, can't find 'em even on the VGN historical society web.  Know of any?  I'd even like to see it on a model railroad to see what the overhead wire should look like.

Thanks for the pix.  Looks like the E44 is a 'kit-bashed' E33 (hint, hint.)  Personally, I like the look of the E33 better, more "rail-roady" IMO.  Anyhow, I've got an eclectic collection of engines that I bought just because I liked the way they looked.  Someday I'll paint them all for my imaginary Belt Line Union Railroad (AKA BLURR.)

Question for you.  What is the difference between th E33and the E44?  I too have 1 B-man E33 and agree that it's a great running loco that will pull a brick down the track.  Also has a great 'electrical' whine without a sound system.  I'd like to have more.
