HO / Making motor gears quieter

Hi, does anyone know if by using a special grease on ringfield motors instead of oil will make the gear noise less, hopefully I've made myself understood, thanks in advance.

HO / Re: K4 4-6-2 Locomotive

Hi, do not be discouraged by what some of the member/s say, I don't know enough about the K4 otherwise I would help, but I will say that someone who's not having a bad day will help you in this matter, we all make mistakes and I feel strongly that the member who answered your last message has probably been into modelling too long!

Hi, I'm also new to this great hobby, I have now converted about 30 HO locos to dcc from ringfield motors can motors and also open frame motors , with the help of some great Utube videos, so, if you have good soldering abilities and can read LOL then it's easy, just make sure not to skip anything because with one of my first conversions (and in my eagerness) I forgot to isolate the motor and destroyed a good $100 sound decoder, at least I saved the speaker lol,,,
Anyway if. Can do it anyone can, good luck and enjoy.... :)

Would anyone have experience in what the best type of dcc decoder to use (or sound decoder) in some older triang xo3/4 motor open frame ho scale locos?

Has anyone fitted a dcc decoder to one of these non dcc ready locomotives, and what and how was it done.
Have a great Christmas to all!

General Discussion / Re: Gp40 lights too dim
December 02, 2013, 11:15:40 AM
Thanks for that info, I was thinking that that would be a solution, but,  I heard that the lights may be able to be adjusted by my digitrax zepher, can anyone confirm this?
