By the way, I suspect that most of my rolling stock have the earlier underframes.  Is there a way to quickly determine this?  And I assume these new lowered underframes are for the standard size freight cars, and not for the passenger cars and cabooses?
ALL of my stock is on 'old' underframes, so it would be nice to know what is involved and what the difference is - I may still be better off doing my own mods?

Can anyone advise me of the scale length (or real of the prototype) of Mt. Blue #556-558?
Matt

Why not just contact Mount Blue models directly?
I'm sure they will give you the EXACT information.

My friend is fond of using Bachmann On30 stock to kitbash Gn15 equipment, so I am sure he has an idea for a future project for the vertical-boilered locomotive.
Get your friend to check out www.gn15.info and its "GnATTERBOX" Forum - where they are currently discusing vertical boiler locos in Gn15.

On30 / Re: small Forney for ON30

Quote from: Hamish K on January 30, 2008, 08:26:54 PMIn relation to rolling stock I would like to see Bachmann produce a model of (passenger carrying) SR&RL caboose #556-558 or the earlier #554. These were compact vehicles that, as well as providing a nice car for Maine modellers could double as a drovers caboose' for logging and other bachwoods operations. #554 was similar to, but shorter than, the later cars - in fact it was about the same length as the existing Bachmann freight cars. #554 operated earlier without a cupola but later had a cupola fitted. Both versions could be made, the one without a cupola would make a good looging car as well as being suitable for Maine depending on the period. For information on #554 see http://www.largescalecentral.com/articles/view.php?id=47&page=2

Another item with a possible Maine application would be an open sided excursion car. Excursion cars were used by Maine and other operators before the preservation era, so they could be quite versatile. In fact #554 was rebuilt from an excursion car. However given the long delay on Bachmann's proposed  HO excursion cars I am not holding my breath for these.
Hamish

Have you not seen these kits?

The rolling stock is 100% Bachmann and the engines are 99% Bachmann,  with one BLI 2-8-0 and 2 MMI K27s.
Bob

So, you have 99% Bachmann engines, plus three others... does this mean you have 297 Bachmann engines  :o ... they must LOVE you  ;D

Back on subjuct:

1. Maine Two foot, based on the proposed but never built Skowhegan & Athens.

2. Laser cut wood kits IF I can get them, and scratch built otherwise.

3. 1930's (probably)

4. Well, it all depends on which room I get, but I plan on having models of Skowhegan (terminus and interchange with the MeC) and Athens (HQ, and start point of the northern extensions...)
