HO / 2-8-0 squeals on curves
December 20, 2008, 11:35:25 AM
One of my Bachmann 2-8-0s squeals in curves.  The curves are 18" radius nickel alloy track and, just to make certain, I ran another 2-8-0 through the circuit.  The second engine ran fine with no abnormal sounds.  I greased the engine in question and recleaned the track. None of thoses actions fixed the problem.

Any thoughts on how to fix this will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

tom

It is steel track, the magnet raises the track up when placed on a rail.  It is only used indoors.

Large / Track Cleaning
March 16, 2008, 09:45:20 AM
I am new to large scale and would appreciate advice on cleaning Bachmann large scale track.  On my HO scale road I use Maas polish when I put the lines around the Christmas tree.  I then use a t\track cleaning car using 91% alcohol.  I tried the same procedure on my large scale track with far less desirable results.

Thanks in advance,

Thank you Big Bear,

I changed from using MAAS metal polish in cream form to MAAS liquid polish.  I did not notice until this morning that the MAAS liquid polish should not be used on plated metal.  You eased my mind!

Thanks,

Tom

Is the Bachmann Nickel Steel Track plate or all nickel steel?

N / Figure 8 with N scale Bachmann Track
March 07, 2007, 12:02:56 PM
I am about to take my first jump into N scale railroading.  I always set up five HO trains around the Christmas tree and two large scale trains at the other end of the living room.  I still have room for an O gauge train, maybe I will buy it around Christmas, and an N gauge train that I intend to buy in the next few days.  Besides the 90 degree  crossing, what other pieces of track are needed.

I certainly appreciate your help!
