General Discussion / Re: DCC
February 26, 2012, 03:49:55 PM
Not making a choice for you, I found that DCC is really the only way to go but the path varies a lot. So I went to You Tube and pulled up video's on every system there is. After watching these demonstrations of downloading the systems to the locomotives and operating the system I made my choice. May not be yours, but it impressed me and the support from that company has proved to be great.

Anyway, good luck  is okay, but knowledge is better!.Think past today as these are investiments. Ted

General Discussion / Used Bachman Locomotives
February 26, 2012, 02:37:33 PM
I have HO locomotives dating back to 1965 when I purchased them new. I have also purchased several new and used locomotives in the past  several years. I am currently converting many to DCC/Sound. So of course I choose those that I feel qualify and then start the conversion. However many come without the instructions and schmatics required to open, service and re-wire them.

In particular I have a few Bachman 4-8-4 Northerns like the 41-580-02 Sante Fe. One in particular is not running and I may need to re-motor it. Hence I need the parts list and instructions.

Question is, does Bachman have a link to pull up old instructions or does Bachman or anyone have these particular instructions that they can "E" mail me? Am having fun setting up DCC. What a change from 1965.

Thanks. Ted

HO / Ilustrated parts list and instruction
February 13, 2011, 01:30:39 AM
Being inactive in model railroading for over 40 years and now getting back into it is like I was never there. I have purchased several new locomotives and cars, but have also purchased several older models as I am building a 1930's thru the 70's 11.5' X 14' layout featuring Rock Island with other Midwest fallen flags! IC, ATSF, plus West coast  GN, NP, SP, and UP!

So for example I bought a used C44-9W Bachmann Spectrum Santa Fe that has no paper work and I need to know where to go to get the operating and service instructions! I plan to convert all the locomotives to DCC as long as I am starting out all over again! Wow, this DCC stuff is really incredible!

I am very impressed with the Bachmann models I have purchased to date and the service from Bachmann the couple times I contacted them! What a great hobby and it's great when the suppliers are supportive as Bachmann has been! Looking forward to hearing from anyone with the answer! Thanks! Ted
