HO / Spectrum 4-6-0 halts on DCC crossover switch
April 29, 2011, 12:14:13 AM
I recently bought a spectrum 4-6-0 that runs on DCC. It runs fine on the oval track but when it is in the center of the crossover switch, it momentarily halts completely and then starts again.
My other locos don't do this. The 4-6-0 does this with all the crossovers on my layout. Is there something wrong with the loco I got or is a 4-6-0 not able to negotiate the bachmann crossover switches?

The center frog of the crossover is not powered.

Thanks

General Discussion / connecting tracks to #5 turnout
April 09, 2011, 04:12:22 AM
I recently purchased a #5 turnout and am wondering how to connect track to the straight and side section of the turnout at the same time. The two pieces of the track overlap and dont fit. Any suggestions?

I had asked the same question here a couple months ago but either the moderator deleted the comments or there were lost messages in this forum.

Anyway i finally figured out how to program Bachmann turnouts with NCE power cab
1. Hook up NCE powercab to the track and attach the turnout
2. Press the programming button on the turnout till the turnout clicks
3. On the powercab
a. Press 'select accesory'
b. Press the number you want to allocate for the turnout and press enter
c. Press 1 or 2
4. The turnout should click twice and get programmed

HO / Parallel track with #6 turnout
March 11, 2011, 03:20:59 AM
Hello,

I am trying to a branch line connection to my main line using #6 turnouts to get a layout like this.

         ================
        /                                    \
==========================

I assume i need to curved track sections to hook up to both the #6 turnouts and then use straight sections to join the top part.

Any suggestions on what kind of curved section is needed? i think it might be 1/3 of 18 inch curve or 1/2 of 22 inch curve.

Thanks

General Discussion / 22" radius DCC turnout
February 28, 2011, 09:34:33 PM
Does Bachmann make a 22" radius DCC turnout? If not, what are my options for adding a turnout to a 22" radius oval track?

Thanks

I am curious to know if i can use the regular DCC turnout (with 18" radius) interchangeably with the #4 turnout.
If i had an oval of 18" curves, I am assuming i could replace one of the curves with a DCC turnout.
Can i do the same with a #4 turnout and would it still fit?

Thanks

HO / Bachmann 14 piece HO pier bridge set and Acela
February 16, 2011, 03:15:35 AM
Will the HO Acela or Amtrak pass under the Bachmann 14 piece HO pier bridge set with the pantograph extended?
If not, will the 18 piece set work?

Thanks

HO / 2-6-6-2 length
January 30, 2011, 03:34:22 AM
Could someone with a 2-6-6-2 HO steam locomotive measure its length from coupler to coupler (without tender) and let me know please?

How do people find the dimensions of Bachmann engines before purchasing?

Thanks

General Discussion / DCC turnout 44130 vs 44139
January 29, 2011, 08:44:07 PM
I realize that #5 turnout has a bigger turning radius than #4. But what is the difference between a regular DCC turnout and the #4 turnout?
44130 vs 44139

Thanks
