Looking for suggestions for a different on-off-on momentary switch, preferably micro size, to replace the switch control that comes with the Bachmann EZ Track turnouts. I'm looking for about 25.
Thanks

HO / Re: Ho Christmas Train spining on Flat EZ-Track
November 03, 2018, 02:14:50 PM
I have a very similar problem with the Thomas Emily engine pulling only her tender and 2 coaches. Going up a grade? Forget it. Also will 'jumps' the track or 'stall out' when going thru a #4 turnout.

That's what I thought. No to the flex track. Thanks.

Is the radius measured to the inside rail, middle of the rails or outside rail?

General Discussion / Re: Graduated Piers
July 07, 2018, 05:27:29 PM
ACY, thanks for the info. I will keep the run to 10' min. That will give me grade of 2.9%. 15' run - 2.4% grade, 20' run - 1.5%.

General Discussion / Graduated Piers
July 07, 2018, 10:15:19 AM
Just purchased a set of piers to be used with HO EZ-Track. Each pier was placed where 2 sections of track come together. Problem is  engines will not climb the 'ramp' with any rolling stock attached. Some wont climb at all. EZ-Track straights are 9" long. You wind up with a grade of a little over 5.5%. The rise is 3.5" and the run is 62.75. What would be the 'max' grade I should try for?
Thanks

Planning on moving from DC to DCC. I understand that DCC Ready means loco has the NMRA 8-pin plug installed and a decoder must be purchased. Looking at the Bachmann catalog, I see that some locos are DCC Equipped and others are DCC Sound Value-Equipped. I assume that all will run on straight DC power. What is the difference between the two.
Thanks

Large / Starting A New Outdoor Layout
July 06, 2018, 09:39:47 AM
Need ideas on elevated track support. I'm looking at placing regular 8x16 concrete block on individual beds of tamped crushed stone at 4 foot intervals and spanning the blocks with treated 2x8's then securing the track to the wood. This would be a quick way of getting a fairly simple layout up and running. Good or bad idea? Better suggestions requested.

Thanks

HO / EZ Track Auto-Reverse

What 'triggers' the auto-reversal when using the EZ Track product that would be located at each end of a length of track?

Thomas & Friends / Flaking Finish
November 07, 2017, 08:59:34 AM
I have all of the Large Scale Thomas and Friends engines and cars. All are still in their original boxes.  Only Thomas and Percy have been run and then only for less than an hour at a time. I strongly doubt that there would be more than 3-4 hours total run time on either engine. Just noticed that the finish on Percy is peeling in where I think the motor is located. Just small areas. Plastic shell seems to be okay, just the finish is 'blistering'. Any suggestions. Would this be a warranty issue?
Thanks,

General Discussion / Bachmann 1 Amp Decoder #44913
December 20, 2016, 07:53:59 PM
Is the Bachmann 1 amp decoder 44913 a dual mode unit capable of running DC or DCC? I plan of using in the G-scale Thomas locos.

I would like to upgrade my grandson's non-DCC versions of the entire fleet of Thomas & Friends locos using Bachmann's 44913 Decoder and later add the 44958 sound board. Do they have a schematic available for the new engines?

Large / G Scale Thomas Engines
November 11, 2016, 10:28:43 AM
On the bottom of the Thomas engines there is a 2 position switch. I've always set to NMRA. I'm converting to DCC. Do I simply bypass the switch when installing the 8-wire decoder (Bachmann #44913)?
Thanks.

General Discussion / G Scale Thomas DCC Conversion
November 10, 2016, 10:23:33 AM
I'm in the process of converting 2 or more of the G scale Thomas and Friends engines. Hobby shop contacted Bachmann and they recommended installing E-Z Command 1 Amp Decoder #44913. Couple of questions....

   1. Do I splice the red/black pickup and orange/grey motor terminal inline or bypass the switch on the bottom of the engines? I want to keep dc availability.

   2. Would the E-Z Command Controller 36505 be my best choice?

Thanks in advance.

I trying to find the output plug size that goes to the track on the small, grey controller that is supplied with many of the train sets. I want to make up some power connectors to use on brass track. The steel track connectors don't work very well.
