J D, My Shay only has 4 screws per motor block. Do you know what version that is? I brought it from Trainworld about 18 months ago and I have fitted a " My Loco" sound card that I got from Australia. It is fairly basic but sounds great.

Thanks for the Info Bill.  I purchased an Annie in 2006 and it looks and runs beautiful. It needs a bit of extra weight added to climb my 3% grades but overall it does well.

                  Regards

Hi there Bill,
I was given a used set many years ago but the gearbox makes a fairly noticable whining noise so I don't run it anymore.  The set No is 80015 - Rio Grande Southern.
Can you tell me the year it was made and the type of Chassis.  This set was my introduction to Large Scale, I was an HO modeller before, but now I'm keeping as much as possible to 1/24th, which is correct for our 3ft 6in gauge here in New Zealand.
        Keep up the good work

Gidday Barry,
My first set was a Big Hauler No 90015 but the Gearbox whines fairly loudly so I don't run it anymore. Do you know if spares are available or should I leave it in the cabinet as a paper weight.

                 Cheers

Thankyou for your help Gentlemen. The Sound Board is up for Auction here so I will see if I can make the winning bid, depending on finances of course.

Another one from New Zealand. Can The Pheonix PB9 sound kit be installed in the " Annie " without too much major surgery, and if so, can anyone put me on the right track, sorry about the Pun" for installation.

                Cheers

I wish it was 1:1 but unfortunately its hovering around 71c and that is not good for us here.

With a population of 4 Million we don't have the demand that an importer needs to sustain a viable " G " Gauge Business. I used to buy my Trains from the USA but the postage got so outragess , $US60, which became $NZ100, I found it cheaper to wait for used  equipment to come on the market here.  Thats life, we can't all live in the same place, maybe china is the exception.

Hi Chuck,
Great to hear from you as well. Many thanks for the advice on the Track. Track is very hard to get in New Zealand so when some comes up on : Trade Me:  There is a fair scramble to buy it. I need another 40ft to complete my Railway and this box will help out real good.
I will send you an E,mail with some pics.

                  Cheers

I have the opportunity to buy a box of Track of 6.5ft diameter. Will my 2 Truck Shay get around the curves with the Drive Shaft on the outside.

                   Cheers

I have been building mine for the past 3 years and still have a little more track to lay and some bridges to build on the inside track. Am running Bachmann Loco's and Rolling Stock and some scratch built Logging Equipment, Its not a huge Railway but I have built it up approx 2ft to 2ft 6in to make it easier for the future Live Steam Dream. If you need photos I can E'mail them, not sure how to put pics on the Forum. Am using 1:24th as it fits in with our 3ft6in gauge here in New Zealand.

                                Cheers

You will probably find that LEDs will only run in parralell as they are,in effect, a Diode.

Sounds like the Final Drive Gear on the Axle has broken. Its a common fault on the Connie but cheap and easy to repair. Give the Service Dept a ring and they should be able to fix you up. I did one here in New Zealand about 2 years ago. Cost me $16 for the part.

                  Cheers

If you get to NZ Ken, come an stay at my place. I live about 200 yards from the Waihi Goldfields Railway, Waikino end, and I'm a volunteer Driver there. Am still constructing my Garden Railway and it's looking ok ,so far.

                       Cheers
